Which tail did Dave's SC have?

Dave's had the 3.3 turbo tail (known as a tea tray)
Put simply the tail options are as follows:

1) Duck Tail - there is only one 72 -74
2) The Turbo tail used from 74-77 - firbreglass with rubber lip (my C3 had this)
3) The fully rubber tail (nasty thing) used 77-80
4) The 3.3 Turbo tail (tea tray) used 78-89 - used on SC's in the early 80's too.
5) The 3.2 Carrera Tail used 83-94 (used on some 964's like the American RS)

There are some IROC specials etc - but the tails above were used on production cars.

I've never looked into that either, but a simple ducktail suits an SC well

I don't think that's the whole truth (look at US SUV height 964s) but has an element of logic to it. I suppose you will find out at HD!
It is a bit low at the front, just mucking about and marvelling in the fact that a torsion bar car ride height can be jacked up or down in minutes without even having to get the car off the ground. The front will come up a bit more still I think. Haven't really experienced any down sides cruising Tamaki drive.....

The Turbo one by the looks. IMO Dave made a good choice removing it. They make the rear end look heavy on non-turbo's.

They do. Magnus put one on the 78SC he built. Like the black look in combination with the rest of the scheme.

Glenn, just so you know, the ducktail isn't a cheap option. I think Steve R maybe able to do a better deal, but the all up cost to import, paint and accessorise Herman's tail was close to $2,000.

Holy ... not a cheap option at all. Thanks for that John. Hopefully you're not just painting today. Great day to be out and about

Two Turbo 3.6 owned by two HK brothers. The Grey one is an interesting choice but absolutely works on this model

It starts out cheaply as the tail is USD 450 but freight, labour and hardware soon start to ramp the cost up. I think the plastic grille was > NZD 400 landed.

Out and about a bit. As midday heat is no good for painting. It may be just a hyper sensitivity but the R is bringing out some 'interesting' reactions from fellow drivers. Not all of it positive: boxing me in by doing 93km/hr on the motorway; speeding up when I go to overtake; parking right up against my door. Mind you the Cayenne isn't bringing the best out of people either. Never had negative reactions in the 964s.

a bit unfortunate but does happen a bit in the more modern Pcars. Less so in the older ones, I find a few ppl have come up to me with compliments in the 72 car. But funny thing is in the Fraser kit car ppl always wave out, point and laugh. Kids and Adults.
