Not a bad way of doing it (spectator appeal aside). Or - for ultimate regularity - leave it to next year's roboracers:

That helmet is stunning! Would love one of those.
I was considering the regularity, however 3 things put me off:
1. Fire Extinguisher, a bit hard to mount properly in a street car sometimes.
2. Need to be there for all 3 days including Friday
3. Lack of track experience means I would only be doing it for the fun of it, I would be useless at regularity.
4. Price is a factor too I guess.

Maybe not all, but certainly the air cooled ones. I've spent a lot of time looking at the condition of the rubber lines etc on Herman. It's sobering seeing dates like 1989 on fuel lines. The design has leaks possibly running down over hot exhaust pipes. If you don't have an extinguisher then you would likely have nothing more productive to do than film the inferno for the insurance company.
Anyone have a source for Halotron extinguishers locally? The HalGuard units look good, although have to be relatively large to meet local club day requirements. I haven't found a local supplier.
I have been through this. In the end Chris M brought one through for me from USA in his container. My conclusion on this whole subject was buy this item locally from the (limited and sketchy) sizes tyres available as its a consumable and cannot be easily imported (Hazmat) at any reasonable cost...
Andy Culpin Race FX @ Hampton Downs 021 172 6345 can help with a locally made package or you can try something like this http://www.rennline.com/newssection.asp?dept=773
Please remember that MSNZ rules require two straps on the extinguisher and some of the older Rennline ones only had one.

A big week ahead. John will deliver the bumpers, ducktail and smaller parts to me this weekend. I collect the rear shocks tomorrow (new bump stops, oil and seals - shafts were ok) and at some stage the body will make its way back to Kohi. It's all becoming very real.
I'll keep those who expressed interest informed of the timetable but with only so many weekends and many of you racing/tracking on the 12th and/or at the Viaduct on the 19th I may just have to do it and post pics.

I like these mounts...

Has anyone glued their sunroof strip on? Any tips? Looks like a potentially messy job with no escape route once committed.

I went the Brey Krause route with their Universal adjustable stainless bar and platform (fits any car - $141 USD), then bought a billet machined quick release bracket I think from Patrick motorsports). The whole thing is a wrk of art and ne of the nicest parts f my cars interior. Heres an old photo of it 2011when I used a small bottle.
