Another cracker today - weather turned it on, the cars were interesting and no-one went home in damaged condition (if you don't count JB shredding a tyre half way up the main straight!)

No question the orange T has some pace - will be an awesome base to develop from.

Chris B's Cayman project continues to develop - mid 14's in the last session. Totally hooked up!

Thanks for the pics John - you were easy to spot with the fluro jacket on the infield. Was that a look of abject terror on Kim's face?

Sounds perfect. Dave will be giving the 964s grief once on dot R in no time ;-)

Slow pace here today. Read in bed till 9, a few chores before lunch, then to Eratap for dinner at friends place and now awaiting sunset. I can't remember if it's a week day or a weekend any longer!! It's taken almost 2 years of no work to get chillax, but I can say I am 100% dialled into it now....

Good to remain involved even sans car.

The vest was a previous requirement for media passes. They were more relaxed today but I wore it none the less.

As for Kim, there is one photo where she is either double handing a grip or praying!

Dave was on Direzza II which are on the way to being Dot R. Circulating in the 1:21 region will keep the 964s honest. Doug ran a 1.20.4 but didn't appear to have the legs to overtake Dave.

Can't relate to your chillaxing. I have just had three weeks off work and didn't sit down for more than 5 minutes. The eftpos card took a beating as well. Can't retire early at this rate

Don't retire early mate. It's total BS what they say about you spending less (plus if it catches on mid day mid week Movie sessions will be too busy - yes we have a brand new gold class cinema here now!!)

yeah, it was good, very neutral and easy to go fast in. Brakes need a good shove - un servo'd so you get what you put in. Really like the grip out of corners and the torque of the 3.2. Overall, very happy with today's result. Thanks for the photo's John

Chris B, sounds like the Cayman development is on track! Pete, did you get the Cayman R out for a session?

Yep - 2 sessions late in the day. Encouraging start - it has amazing handling and gets the power down out of the corners. Brakes are all sorted with new discs all round and RS29 pads. It is not firm or low enough for max attack - a bit soft in the corners. Pulled consistent 15.5s with a fair degree of conservatism at T1.

Taking Chris's as a benchmark with 295hp base vs the R at 330 you'd have to think a 13 was in reach with a bit of work.

That said, driving the 44 and R back to back, in current configuration the 44 is way more fun!

Good outcome. I think in line with your expectations. I suspect weight is your enemy comparing the CR to the two racers.

The track boys in the states with the CR can get them to go as almost as quick as 996.2 GT3, but it involves $$$, set up and some good driving.

It may not be worth taking any further than it is now - with good track pads, fluids, tyres and geo you've already covered the big (value) time winners. Everything else will be $$$ and give you limited returns.

If the CR in current format turns out to be not quick/involving enough for you would make better fiscal sense to move in to a 6/7 GT3....
