How good does this Carrera 2.7 book look?

Might have to ask Santa for a copy.

Nik. Looks wonderful. However I think you'd need to really be an RS geek or a Porsche book collector 9Ive retired!) to appreciate it for that money...

Yes, I can almost imagine someone ordering German air for the tyres.

Meanwhile, the deconstruction continues. Goodbye Carrera RS door sill trims. Lights all out. Sills off. Windscreen wipers off.

Mirrors and rear quarter window tonight.

I have already ordered one being an impact bumper geek, but not the publisher's version. A 2.7 MFI Carrera would be my dream 911, but at around $300-400K AUD will be unobtainium for me (so will settle for the book). It can sit next to my 2.7 Carrera RS book (which a paid a LOT more for)........

Cool to see the 964 getting a makeover, the next one will be the ex-UK red blooded special, which is gently zipping down to Christchurch with it's new owner.

Another 964 sold to Chch, thats 4 in the last year boys, we need to make up for lost porsches somehow...

Heres the last we'll see of it for a few months..

John (Racoguy) will complete the bodywork and he's recommended a Glasurit painter. Not sure of the name there. John wouldn't recommend unless he was happy with the work.

I'm reducing the cost by demounting the parts myself, which also helps with the ordering process as I know what's needed.

While I will take the rear quarter windows out this is not a true glass out respray as I am risk averse with the front and rear screen. I replaced the former barely months ago and don't want to risk breaking it. Apparently the join won't show as they lift the seal edge with electrical cord. It also helps that I know the screen surround is rust free. In fact the only sign of corrosion on the whole car is the crack on the front of the driver door skin when the hinges over extended. There is no water in the floor wells so I don't expect there is hidden rust. There may be some in the rear window as Paul found with his 993, but ignorance is bliss.

The goal is to have a car which is 'sorted'. My engine has 16,000km on a full rebuild. My gearbox will be sorted with 3 new synchos, a guide sleeve and 3rd gear set,y interior is refreshed with some subtle touches and the body will look refreshed. It won't be a concours machine. I will use it as my DD, road trip and track car. I won't sell it. If some one else wants a 964 as sorted they can climb the slippery slope themselves.

The C2 has sold? Good one for Vincent. Even if
he sold in the $40s I understand he would've made a good profit on it.

I'd like another 964. Maybe something I can strip for the track. My skills are building. They only thing I will never Contemplate is body and paint work.

Could well do at the rate I am going. The parts for the gearbox total $4,700 of which $2,200 is the diff clutch pack. Wasn't expecting that.

Wasn't expecting to change out the rear lights or some carpet or a whole list of parts that I've been hitting the buy button on e.g. Transmission mount, engine pad, alternator fan, CV joints, RMS.

However having the time of my life or at least I was until the dynamic duo of Macca and Pete tag teamed me on Saturday with tales of Oakura this weekend, which I hadn't told Donna about, then Pete started talk of Europe plans.

Ill post a few videos of the day tonight when I have time. Interestingly most of the laps have traffic. Back markers come up quick in the GT3 and by lap 4/5 the rear of the field becomes a reality. Some were good at moving over but most just kept their foot into it which became a bit tiring. Everyone wants to race a Porsche - for the GTRs they just move over!
Probably an Enzo, but this'll make you reassess your comments about "traffic"...

Any takers?

Probably $100k - weren't we at 75 before all this began, (5k gearbox, 6k paint, 8k sundry parts and tools, free labour etc) Paul, but John has thrown away the spreadsheet so it's Donnas guess now ;-). Good idea too I say.

One car to rule them all one car to bind them...,sound familiar :-)

I think I'm clairvoyant. Ha ha. Paul that Gruber RS book has been a great investment. Last one sold 1450 used on eBay I see!! Numbered edition low print runs usually hold up ok.

Update on sold stuff = roof rack, Ctek charger, OBD2 scanner.

Still for sale brand new Hapro roof pod (accept reasonable offer), 1100 mah jump pack, Bluetooth bike/car Comms set?
