Comparing UK market to NZ is a bit futile. a GT4 there listed at approx. 70k GBP but all sold out. If you want to buy an allocation now would probably cost you 100k. Seems to be the way with all new Porsche GT cars in the UK these days. 6 GT3 60k private. In NZ the GT4 will depreciate from sale not unlike the GT3 & RS before it. horses for courses. If you want a new track toy covered with warranty that will be easy to live with and fun on weekends or as a DD the new car has significant advantages.

Dave. The factory correct wheels are the non staggered lip right?
All true - which is why most of us (Matt excluded) would opt for the GT4 (especailly given the same $$ - I did think of and assume an original allocation buyer and not a flipped car price - otherwise may as well throw in the 'idiot' asking over a $100K for his GT3 too?)

Just annoying new cars are so much more expensive in NZ..........

Do you still think you can land one for circa $150K?

Agree. The R is as close as
I will likely get to new and it appears Herman's gearbox rebuild will lift the investment to a similar level as the R. Character aside, the newer car is easier to live with maintenance wise.

But where would the fun in that be? You wouldn't be able to justify buying garage goodies

I've owned and driven a 996 GT3 but I haven't driven a GT4 yet so I'm not qualified to comment in any way on the driving and ownership experience with the GT4. My comments between the two at this time purely subjective.

I have really enjoyed ordering a new car from the factory and picking it up. Indeed it could end up being the only time I can afford to experience this (with the NZD depreciation in the future) but it was a very satisfying bucket list tick and one of my top 5 "car moments".

Don't know how he does it - works insanely hard, doesn't turn up for Friday practice and 1.17 straight out of the box in quali and 16's in the race. Awesomely well driven!
Sometimes it just works out that way - shouldn't be like that (lack of prep, cluttered mind etc) but it just is. Once I had to an urgent trip to Singapore for a meeting the week before Targa. Flew up there on the overnight, went to hotel for a shower then about 5 hours on the ground before going back to the airport and on the overnight home. Daylight hours only. After arriving home one night in my own bed and then packed van and car and drove to AKL from Welly for the start - Co driver drove most of the way and I slept uncomfortably in the co driver's fixed bucket seat. We had one of our best events....

if its the same 'ring time' as the 997.2gt3 can't be too much overhyped? Not that I am qualified to comment either.

Nurburgring lap times are an utterly stupid way to evaluate a car. The sooner car manufacturers/marketing/press/consumers stop using it as a benchmark, the better.

Great for bench racing though.

Does anyone know this car? Still working on the silver one but this looks nice. Only 8000km in the last 8 years though?

Probably look OK on the car but I want to see one first.
Design 911 has the latter incorrect style and Pelican has the correct style. Small point and I think I might get a few widths that can be shared between the SC and T because they are cheap enough to experiment with. 15's on the SC is appealing.
Speaking of Fuch's. Dave, have you seen these Braids ? Rennline are selling them as well

Top Gear agrees with you. James May did a good story of the manufacturers setting up the suspension for a ring time as the cost of ride quality.

I'll let you take the GT3 for a spin to put you on heat :-)
