Stayed in the metropolis of Taihape last night en route from Wtn to Akl. Asked TomTom to take us on an interesting route to get here including that sweet river valley this side of Feilding. We even got on some roads with no painted lines. Nice stuff and safe in the dark.
Today Taihape to Akl via National Park. Hope it rains today so it can be fine tomorrow.
Nice to be back in the RS60 seat with Patrick for company.

16 prestige cars in the wet. Many first timers. I sense potential carnage.

Another jaffa here. Long time lurker (8 years.. time flys).
Bit of history: My first P-car was an '88 944 2.5L, and then an '86 944 Turbo, both daily driven. Unfortunately I had to sell the 951 as I went to work in Japan for a year.
Since coming back I have had an MX5, and currently drive a stock S15 200SX Spec R2, which is a nice car. But recently I've been getting cravings for an older Euro. The Japanese cars I have had just don't give me the same feelings as I remember my past Euro cars did.
Anyway, thought I would try here to see if anyone has or knows someone who may sell their 944. I'm not picky about year or engine as long as it is manual. It will be my only car, so it has to have been well maintained and running problem-free, not a project car.
By the way, is this the only online refuge us NZ P-car enthusiasts have? Or is there a NZ Porsche forum that I do not know about?

There are a variety of NZ hangouts but this is probably the most active. There's a few FB pages - PCNZ, early 911, RSG etc but as you will see above there's also a bunch of old duffers who won't go near FB until long after our kids have left it for the next new thing

To those guys on track today.... Let us know how it goes. Looks like wind may be more of an issue than the rain?

I was contemplating going out to HD today for a look but she's pretty rough out there. I might hang around and make sure the tide isn't creeping up our street this afternoon.

Really like the look of that. At the opposite end of the spectrum: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv8z7i...ature=youtu.be

Track conditions were as wet as they get. We were thinking of packing it in early and a Cayman S aquaplaning on the main straight with the sickening sound of metal hitting concrete cemented the decision. Macca, Chris and I went and had a bite in Pukekohe. It's looking better now, but only Macca has gone back as he is staying at HD overnight.
I don't know how many times we need to repeat this but standing water and fast cars do not mix. I think conditions will be a lot better tomorrow so don't panic if that is your first time at the track.
