HELP?
I'm in the market for a LHD early Porsche Boxster or similar fun car for Vanuatu (occasional driver). If you have a lead on a car that may have been wrongly imported and unable to be registered cost effectively that's the kind of car I am after. Alternatively if you have a contact to an online auction in Japan where I can find such a car the link would be appreciated. I'm not wanting to pay much more than 15-20k as the price will double due to container transport, 55% duty and VAT + Registration. Also once it breaks will be off the road some time before fix and INS etc will render it an out door garden seating arrangement!!

With that milage and no engine work, it's not a track car John.
Your C4 must owe you $80K (you will join the hundie club with a paint job) - and this car would be no different (if it regularly saw the redline)

Bollocks! I beg to differ. I live in LHD country and keep one eye always on TM LHD auctions for something interesting to export for myself and friends.
We aren't talking internationally collectable 1973 RS here Paul we are talking cooking 964 asking 20-30% discount over RHD NZ new C2 (assume same mileage, condition and provenance) and yet it still remained for months on end on TM. Interesting to know what it sold for but suspect not much over 32K.
Isn't there a NZ C4 RHD at CCS in good condition and colour combo with similar mileage on it? Whats that going to sell for? 40K?
Just saying , my observation across a range of transport for sale in NZ indicated LHD will generally sell at 30% discount over RHD.
Me, I drive LHD daily on RHS road, but I woundnt pay same price for LHD 964 in identical condition/provencne to RHD car in NZ that would not be prudent...

Taupo fine for a good sprints trackday on Saturday. Very slippery so must be a lot of dust/sand blown onto it as it hasn't rained and track has had a few big meetings lately so plenty of rubber down.
Sprints format good as you are allowed to pass under brakes with due car of course. Car went good

Pete. 48K isnt too rich from a Porsche main dealer. They will likely transact for 44K or do a create trade to get a second vehicle to sell. Im sure Buba has crunched the numbers on this one....
The LHD C2 TM 964 sells 13K less. Whats that 30%?
Ive been involved with helping a UK buyer through the purchase of the red LHD ex Japan 993 RS ex race/track car in CHCH over the last few weeks. In that case sure LHD to that buyer was only a 15% cost impediment....

I don't think LHD affects values these days - might even add value. With that milage and no engine work, it's not a track car John. Your C4 must owe you $80K (you will join the hundie club with a paint job) - and this car would be no different (if it regularly saw the redline)
BTW no paint job for Herman. I don't see the point of increasing a potential loss. If I sold him it would be back to as bought to recoup some of the upgrade cost that wouldn't be reflected in an as is sale. That would mean undoing Fuchs, Seats, Harness Bar, Mod 07, Steve Wong Chip, Ducktail, Specialist Components kit, which would bring me a lot closer to market, albeit it's all theory as I'm not in a selling mood right now. The sale of one of the other three Rs suggests I'm on market there and the Cayenne is working very well so all good in my garage.

Sure you might get 40k for the car and 10k for the bits but it's still a 30k loss and doesn't warrant thinking about. Hard to recover an engine rebuild or a gearbox rebuild which must be in your 2015 list. I'm pointing the finger at myself here could return my 993 near stock sell all Goodies in UK or USA via me eBay account and still would be loosing 40%+

I don't think the LHD discount is 30% on Pcars anymore.
LHD seems more acceptable.........
A manual 64 C2 is quite collectable and I would say has an 'international value' at the moment, a bit like a long hood.
