And yes, I'm still lurking on this thread, adding to views...
I mentioned this car to Kev the other day, thinking if you paid $10K for this you would have $25K to build up a new car like Neils in RHD, instead of buying a tired one for just under $30K and then needing to spend another $5-10K sorting it.

He frowned at this and suggested I buy the built up car.......???

Might need to chat to him again.....??

I wonder when the first Cayman based cars will start racing in the PCNZ series? With the 944 base cars being 25 years or more old there must be benefits to starting with a 20 year younger platform, no?

Apples & Oranges. Caymans built for racing wouldn't be in the same class as the 944s. Would be a big step up in $ but not enough to take on the 997/991 GT3 Cups. Potentially a bit too in between.

It could work as a defined class with rules, as could 944s if there were a few more of them.

Sam - if you are serious about a 944 racer then make sure you talk to Kev as I'm sure he knows pretty much every S2 that's available (ones that have already had work done.) Pretty sure Rob Dong in Wtgn knows of a few as well.

You wont notice it on road though your speedo may now read wrong so you should calibrate it mentally again against your GPS. If you were on the track you would notice a difference. I changed my rear tyres on the 993 to a wider fitment due to lack of Z221 in 265 when i needed them and I definitely noticed the different gearing. After all these are the driven wheels. That said I went to the same 275 tyre on the road wheels for the 993 from 265 and noticed no real difference at all....

Thanks John. I shouldnt have sold their shares last month!

We are planning a holiday later this year to Australia for 2-3 weeks. I think that's the only practical way to spend AUD :-)

Default GT2 - 996 or 997

Hi everyone.

I'm keen to buy either a 996 or 997 GT2. If anyone knows of one that could be available it would be fantastic if you could Let me know. My phone number is 021 555 705.

Cheers

Haven't checked the R yet, but every other Porsche owned to date reads 7km/hr over at 100km/hr. I think this would reduce the error by 1km/hr at that speed.

How did the new tyres feel on the run today Doug?

I'm not sure one Store's sales would be an indication of overall demand but I spoke to a Taiwanese born employee and he said the Mainland Chinese were very rude, in part a cultural difference. They push in to conversations and demand to buy because they are worried the store will run out. Sounds like demand outstrips supply in some countries.

Nothing came of the black one down south? I couldn't remember was the details was the km's too high? There's a speed yellow one around my area (WGTN) just not sure who the owner is. You could also try contacting Powerhaus as a lot of the older cars are serviced by them.

Porsche WGTN had a stunning black 997 GT2 in there for ages but I think thats moved on now.

This is the yellow one http://www.rapidradio.co.nz/Porsche-996-GT2(389).asp

The black one http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=nz

Although the plates are different I think this is the same Yellow GT2. I wonder how many are in the county. I'm aware of 2 x yellow, 2 x silver and 2 x black unless some of these are double ups. There was a Silver GT2 CS for sale a year or two ago.

If it's the black on gloss black wheels one you're thinking of it still lives around WGTN though. It gets out and about. Saw it yesterday leaving the Phoenix game down at the Hutt Rec. In absolutely immaculate condition!

The silver/purple S2 a while back piqued the interest and I could see how a road car with new suspension/tyres/stripped interior could be a blast around the 25k mark. Good for track days/sprints etc. That's more me than racing series!

I can also see the appeal of something with a bigger initial outlay which has had the work done already, and hundreds of hours tipped into it, and your time and money is better spent on setting up and dialing in the car.
