Hm, after watching that Evo video I am seriously considering heading into CCS tomorrow to get on the list! Now considering though how best to approach it all. Which country do you obtain your vehicles through Macca? Probably just look at purchasing here for convenience but may be worth considering other options if the price difference is large. I am also thinking that getting one in Europe when others can't could be turned into a quick profit over there if it becomes worth selling and not the end of the world keeping it!

I think price in NZ will be 185K base. I only see 20% savings on importing grey market on this model once optioned up. I got very lucky with GT3 and saved 30% because of compensation given by PAG for lack of use when engine was replaced.
My basis for private importing would only be ED as we are planning a few months in Europe again next year. We had a simply awesome time when we spent a month with the GT3 there in Dec 2013, and summer would be even better...My experience on the 991 GT3 with PNZ (Greg Clarke) and in particular Dean, Tony & Luke at CCS would heavily encourage me to buy the car locally in NZ (benefit of extra year warranty plus good trade in when time comes etc).I would highly recommend CCS for this.
As for selling the car back into Europe - this isn't possible with the tax free system I am familiar with.
My advise for anyone not wanting to spend time with the car in Europe is for this one buy local - as long as they are pricing it sensibly I think it will not be more than $35-40K more and it also takes away the Forex risk over the next 6 months as I see the Euro hardening up against the NZD. With private import you have to stump everything up before the car is built, with NZ purchase just pay when it arrives...

Interesting situation for Porsche, if you didn't need 4 seats, why would you pay $80K more for a Carrera S when this is a superior car with higher spec GT3 parts on it? It must be on a par with a Carrera S??
It shows how much money Porsche must make out of the 911, given this car is essentially a GT3 parts bin (which is fantastic) and has a 911 engine, but is basically 2/3's the cost to buy.
One could have argued that Cayman's and Boxster's (may) have had cheaper engines etc to build, but the argument goes away in this case.
I think the car is stunning - I really like the spec - it is higher than I anticipated and I like the yellow.......
I think they are going to sell a truck load (and I hope they do too so pleb's like can buy them for half price in 5 years time.....)
Macca - that sales pitch above has me worried you are on 'the take' at EMD and CCS?? - but your comments are true..........

People will always pay more for the 911. Its a 911 after all. Success in marketing more than substance these days as you point out.
The GT4 is indeed well priced compared to 991 base. the only unique elements appear to be the front bumper and rear spoiler. Its a parts bin special between a 991S, 991 GT3 and Cayman S/GTS. Its only the brakes, some of suspension and the wheel design I can see from the 991 GT3. The primary area of concern I see if the gearing, many were expecting a shorter stack than the GTS which has come under criticism by Evo and others.
My guess is it will be a great seller. By the end of 2015 all cayman/Boxster will likely be turbo like 991.2 so its likely last of breed.
Unfortunately CCS pay me nothing to advertise, infact I seem to pay them, however they have always looked after me through thick and thin so they have my vote. PNZ just need to keep the pricing for NZ honest. There is still work to be done here IMO. that doesn't detract from the efforts the local dealers put into their clients. If you dont have a pressing need such as ED, and assuming the pricing isn't massively different then I would encourage most to buy local. You need to be a cash buyer and pay up front to private import and many finance their new Porches (so I am told).
However, there is always a flipside argument. I've never lost money on a Porsche (yet LOL). I have owned 5 and personally imported 4 of those. Funnily enough the one I would loose money on if I sold it is the NZ new 993, the only NZ Porsche I have ever owned!

The 911 S was $220k+ in 2006. 8 years later the prospect of buying a significantly better CGT4 for $185k makes it look outstanding value.
I still don't get NZ pricing though. Apart from a relatively small freight element it's just not justified.
Bloody gorgeous car though.

In markets where the GT4 is priced realistically (UK = GBP65K, USA = $85K) I think the new GT4 will have a noticeable impact on tempering demand for early used GT3s with the track brigade, Lets face it, its about the same price as a used 996.1/2 GT3 in the UK and its probably quicker, new, warrantied etc.
However in NZ the PNZ MSRP compared with the modest secondary market for early GT3 doesn't support that dynamic so much.
Love to know what the standard colours will be in the GT4. Not a fan of Racing yellow, hope they have a darker red, a mexico blue would be great!
28 Days and we see what AP and his team have for us in the 991 GT3RS! Im familiar with the spec on the RS and I think it will be a pretty impressive looking machine. Bring on Geneva. If I was living in the Northern Hemisphere Id be attending that show this year for sure!

When over a third of the houses that went to auction this week sold with a pre-auction offer, the Miller-Meter tells me we are in for another round of house price increases over the next 3 months.
Maybe we can all buy GT4's on our houses now :-)
A ****ty 100m2 ex-state house in Mt Roskill on a full site is now worth close to $1M - this is crazy..........

BB2 is at Paul's place and ready to run. BB is at HD and also ready to run.
Book a spot and we can run a car each. Same if anyone else wants to run a car. It would be great to have some mock racing to speed up my learning curve.
Btw is your trailer available for the weekend of 28/2 ~ 1/3? I'm racing the Grinch at Taupo that weekend.
