And you wonder why the plate is currently not on the car. Its Hamilton of all places - I reckon it would take all of say, 5 minutes!

That's always the way. I looked for about 6 months and in that time there were only 2-3 in that whole time. First one I missed out on and the second was in QT so a bit far for a casual check out plus was poverty spec. What's crazy is the current variation in pricing - the main dealer ones are ridiculously overpriced. Won't be long til a beater 987.1 S is in the mid 30's and ripe for a hardcore conversion though.

To be honest as a DD its perfect as is. However along with the brakes (GT3 master cylinder) looking at the suspension is on the horizon, part to improve the visual aesthetic (SUV ride height a la un modded 964s) and partly because I'd be happy with a tad harder edge just to stop it feeling too comfortable!!

Reminds me, how are the brakes in yours? Paul agrees that mine are 'mushy' - a common complaint on the 987.2s. They work fine but just have a very long, soft travel first.

I haven't noticed any issues on either of my 987.1s. Either I'm used to it or there's a revision between 987.1 and .2. Paul has driven both and I've driven the 981 and I've not been aware of a mushy feel.

Been driving very hard the last few days with hard braking and find them great. This car will have only std Porsche brake fluid too. Reminds me it hasn't been changed for several years when I checked the history so need to add that to the list.

Re suspension. Nigel C replaced his 986 S struts with adjustable ones (not sure of the brand) and that car really performed. He ran through the field in the corners at HD in it. Agree, factory settings are a bit high for our tastes. Does your car wear 18 or 19" wheels? Even factory lower by 10mm (admittedly not much) with 19s mine looks a little high to me. However, on our runs I was occasionally rubbing the flaps in front of the front wheels on the road in some of the lumpy road patches so lower might be a problem.

Nice thumbs up review of the Cayman GTS in the Driven supplement to this weekend's "weekend herald". Can't find the article online yet so looks like wait or buy the paper.

Which Turbo 3.6 does he own? Starting to piece together the other owners. Apparently one owner in Wellington has both Ex Brunei cars, one Red and one Black. Both are very low mileage.

Macca showed me the auto modes in his car. It is light years ahead of the 996TT tipo action for my driving style.

I like to sit on the edge of the torque curve. A reason I loved the Turbo 3.6 manual so much. You are just a throttle move away from power in that car. The 996TT never gave me that option. If I left it in auto it tried to change up quickly and the manual function was clunky to operate.

Macca's car does the quick change up but the sports option holds it at lower gears. I would definitely want that on my next car.

Was better down than up - but a brilliant drive that I'll be doing again.

Great lunch break in Te Awamutu. ChrisB & Paul caught up with us at lunch as Chris' turbo blew a boost hose (we think) on the way down.

On the way back we got held up for 20k+ of the best piece the slow bike of a motorcycle group. Oddly if been pondering what would be a faster transport through there ... I have my answer. Another reason to drive it again!

Stunning weather & no speed patrols!

I'm sure Macca & others will provide a more detailed summary & more photos.

I have bought a demo model (Peugeot 405) before and been generally happy, although I didn't think I bought it cheaply enough considering I was close to buying new and it's nice to be the first driver. I would suggest you take the same approach. Is the discount big enough?

Depends on the condition and price.

If the deal is right - who cares, but I couldn't consider it a demo car with 9K on the clock - it is a used car IMHO, but just happens to have had EMD as the first owner...........

Is this car silver over black by any chance??
