Thanks for that Doug - you hit all the key points! Awesome to hear your perspective.

More performance - check
Enjoyment factor doubled - check
Better (more interesting) colour scheme - check

So all good then!!

Interesting to hear about PASM - its one major option I don't have so will be good to compare. PSE is great but you're probably right that with the top down its even better

The grey NZ new manual in Hamilton only has 30k and is basically the same price. Probably a 2.7 though.

I see he also has the ultimate personalised plate for sale -- I bet it would get some vandalising by your mates though!

Default GT2

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know anything about this 996 GT2?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used...-832028817.htm

It's been for sale for a very long time, and although it's probably 20k over priced it looks good in black.

I was thinking it could look good parked next to my black 996.1 GT3 - make a matching pair! Provided the owner is keen to sell and it has no stories.

Cheers

Matt

I made the mistake of buying a really nice 2.7 - only to upgrade to a 3.4 a year or so later so i could keep up with you lot. You need the extra HP.

Somehow I thought your Cayman had PASM. To put my comments in perspective, turning PASM on for road trips hardens up the ride reducing the comfort level lots. But when chasing Macca or on track it makes a big difference to the chassis performance. So good stuff for a daily driver that gets the occasional Italian tuneup.

I have a brand new set of 18" Michelin Pilot Super Sports tyres that I imported from the States via container a few months ago. They were on my car for 2 days and 100 kilometers of commuting. My new car runs on 19s so these are surplus and I'll sell them for what they cost me back when the exchange rate was much stronger. I have yet to lookup all my costs but I reckon you'll get them no cheaper anywhere.

2x 235/40ZR18
2x 265/40ZR18

PM me if you seriously want to buy them before they go on trademe

I don't know the car Matt, but I believe he is a bit of a collector and has a mint 964 3.6T too.......

Might be worth chatting to......

You need to borrow Pete's car for a week - you will slide across to the dark side when it does everything so superior to a 25 year old Pcar. You can keep the 'Character' for Sundays - same as the 3.6T....? Cheap 'Pcar' motoring and can be used as your daily being PDK. You can't really pile the K's on Herman anymore for FEAR of affecting his value..........
No fears whatsoever with piling Km on Herman. The engine and clutch have only 16,000km and when I've done the gearbox he'll be good for the next 15 or so years of regular driving.

What Herman can never have are the class and condition of the Turbo 3.6 interior, or the modern driving electronics and performance of the later cars. Part of the Cayman R attraction is that it's less than 3 years old.

Yes, we are doing Euro 2015 as a family so 2016 is definitely not on. I think even the missus would agree.

Yup. It's a go car not a show car, like Lola :-P

Don't do it John. It's an auto. It's ugly. Has no soul. Big depreciation. It's rubbish. You'll hate it!

Oh, and we can't have both your cars quicker than mine.
