No, it's not positive. Naturally I'm keen to know what's in there and whether its related to the oil line. But ultimately I have to look at the best outcome which would be a resealed known condition engine.

Would appreciate advice re tyres too from you learned chaps..
I note earlier posts talk about importing..what is app $$ cost for 295/30s or 225/40s, P zero or bridgestones from that o/seas source i think Macca was talking about..
Got some good prices (I think) from my China contact and would like to compare..certainly way cheaper than off the shelf here..

Gates open 7:30 am. Drivers briefing is 9:15 am. I think I turned up to watch about 8:30 and left about 12:00 last time. That worked well.

Phil they will be fine as long as they are the same size and profile. If you are looking for a serious multi use tyre but one that's good for the track too you want to look for a tread wear rating of 180 or less, otherwise the rubber wont be sticky enough. Im not a fan on P Zeros at all (for street). I personally would recommend you look at Michelins new Pilot Super Sport for your car. These will suit the 90% road, 10% track thing well...IMHO of course....

R18 265 35 = 18" rim 265mm width, profile is 35% aspect ratio of 265mm width. Your drivers manual will specify the factory size. Tread wear rating will give you an idea of the softness/stickiness of the tyre. A good semi track dot rated will be down around 80. A typical road tyre maybe 240. The lower teh index the sticker the tyre. If you are running lots of negative camber as a track car typically would you need something with a strong casing. The Tirerack site if you go to specification on the tyre you have chosen will tell you all you need to know. Dont worry to much about max speed ratings for these premium brands/models, you will find most of them are above 240 kmph which is plenty enough...

Rennsport Reunion. Considering this with Paul & Andrew. Andrew, Ill drop you an email shortly regards accommodation etc. Not sure on flights from Vanuatu so will need to tackle that when back on the ground there. Wifes given permission (pending girls shipping weekend in Australia of her own which will likely exceed Rennsport budget considerably!)....

Cheers Macca..these wheels are same size and profile, just running 285s to rear v 295s fitted at present..Has Yoko AO48s on them with some wear. I note your comment re camber
I assume if I fitted these for track days only, i should them redo the camber. My mechanic says with ex fac settings tyre wear is normal, but with track camber, tyre wear goes thru the roof.. I suppose i could get done and change back each time?
reading all your blogs scares me..this could quickly get out of control..and my golf will suffer

One vote for roof rack on. I did a DE with Audi this year at Hampton, drove my S4 avant with both bike mounts on roof! Seemed a good conversation starter (though their internal dialogue was likely, "what a moron, racks at the track!").
John, and good luck with the knock...fingers crossed.
