No power to the PCM...so a black screen.....you cant be sure there is no power unless you meter it. Any chance you bumped the display cable ?? Check that...nothing to loose.

I don't think I bumped anything. I installed the stereo in the car, started the car to confirm it worked and I had AUX as an input, turned off the car and cleaned up, then started the car and got a black screen and error messages (Stop-Start not working, Heated Steering Wheel not working, PCM error, It may be harder to steer). I shut the car down, looked at the 25A fuse in position 10 on Row B? in the footwell. The fuse looked good but I swapped it anyway. I made sure the main plug was seated (removed and pushed it back in) and that's where I am now.

I need to figure out where in the main plug the power is and I'll make sure power is getting TO the stereo, but that's about all I can do.

I went to Crutchfield but they don't have fitments for Porsche online. I have to call them. And it looks like steering wheel controls are going to be a problem. Does anyone have recommendations on a moderately-priced ($500-$600) Carplay/Sirius compatible unit? I don't know much but I'll look at Pioneer, JBL, Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, JVC because they're names I recognize. I'm not an audiophile but I hope I can get something in that price range.

@LarryB make sure that your battery is good / charged. I had all of those warnings (start-stop not working, steering wheel, etc.) in the past and the PCM restarting when my battery was low and I started the car.

Yes that is a symptom of a dying battery. However, it’s a two month old battery. And if I didn’t have that burnt smell (which has dissipated) I’d certainly look into that. Thanks very much.

To each their own, but I'd definitely put a voltmeter on the battery to be sure, and poke around a bit more with a multimeter before going shopping at best buy for a Kenwood.

Dumb question re: those may be symptoms of a weak battery - have you cranked/started the car since they showed up? If the car is running you should have ~14v of alternator output so you can rule out weak battery theory if the errors remain with the car running/immediately after shutting it off.

The car starts instantly and the errors haven’t returned. I’ll check for the 14v tomorrow.

If the car starts instantly there's 95% chance you don't have a weak battery, and if it remains running for more than 30-60min then you have a functioning alternator recharging the battery. So unfortunately "weak electrical system" is likely not your issue.

Downloaded the new firmware from Kimii and unzipped using WinRAR.

I tried 3 different USB disks formatted with Fat32. The unit did not recognize the firmware. The Update button did not turn on. What am I doing wrong?

I have a 2.0. Sent the picture to Kimii.

I can't tell the version number since Carplay did not recognize. But the transfer file name is wetransfer_pcm3-1_b-rar_2022-01-07_0933
