ugh... I'm honestly considering buying a corvette. It just looks like a really f$%ing good time for less than $100k. Also the first car that I'd probably buy aftermarket wheels for. Until last week I was having a 718 spyder vs 992 debate and now this has ruined everything.
Also, I'm well aware it won't be Porsche build quality but having sat in a new 992 I'm starting to think Porsche build quality isn't the benchmark it once was. Lots of cheap touch points in the 992.

The new 992 has had many mixed reactions. Definitely cost cutting on the finishes while increasing $$$. Can't beat the 991 generation. Those days are gone.
Too bad Porsche didn't knock it out of the ballpark on the 992. Many design misses. A decent optioned Carrera S for like $140K +++. Crazy.
Chevy I know you're reading. Host a driving event for enthusiasts here. Would be the smartest thing you could do.
Porsche flys journalists out to Spain and the Canary Islands. Fly out a bunch of Rennlisters out to Detroit for a drive. That would be gorilla marketing at its finest. Think outside the box, it will do wonders. Rob can organize it. He's good at that kinda stuff
Are we looking for 10 years and 120,000 miles on this car too? I need to know the ask lol.
Free speech is about how the gov't can't put you in jail for your speech. It's a limitation on gov't power. It doesn't apply to car forums combining threads and sticking them in a backwater of the forum.

You aren’t alone. I of course need to see it, and drive it, but at that point the z06 hype machine will be in full swing, so we’ll see. But Corvette now becomes part of the discussion, which i didn’t think was even possible one week ago.
When the performance version hits the dealerships, I'll be calling my auto broker. It's just me now, so why not? My 996 is a modern car, and light years away from my classic cars. I love the look of the thing, and the base platform is fantastic. The new Vette has a lot of potential.
The C8 is going to pull in a whole new pool of buyers and the next generation of Corvette owners. The buyers will definitely be younger and first time Corvette buyers.
Gone are the gold chains .... the hipsters have arrived

Good luck. None of my kids would be caught dead in a Corvette. I know because I had one.

Why is that, because you "had" one in the past? Did you have a C8? Of course you didn't since no one has so how can one judge? And what would your kids know about the new Vette either? I guess there are still some that still wear brand-blinders as opposed to those that appreciate something different with the potential to be something special as well.
Platform: 8/10 (mid engine awsomeness, tremec dual clutch sounds great, but pushrod V8 not so much..)
Styling: 8/10 (great basic shape, but hideously overdone additional styling details)
Interior: 7/10 (They have come so far, but still miss the mark by a mile...)
Performance: 9/10 (speculated, based on early info)
Value: 10/10 (Assuming you can get one anywhere near to the $60K speculated base price)
Still, I think a base 1LT with no options other than race seats and the Z51 performance package for say $70K or less might be pretty compelling toy, though I'm not sure how long it would hold my interest...
