Thoughts on the new corvette?

Amazing car for the money. I would order in the dark grey with all black, bolt on bits, matching the body color. Then I'd swap out those disgusting exhaust tips with something that doesn't look like it came from AutoZone.

Hood design denotes a front engine car with a mid engine body. I think that hood should not have the typical Zr1 supercharger powerdome as it has in the past.
However the rest looks amazing.
I built one online and if this thing really doesn't get above 80k with options, we are looking at a huge winner by GM.

Z06 had the M7 released first and the A8 about 2-3 months later iirc.

The only cars I drive are GM and Porsche and the C8 has to be the biggest water ripple in the performance car industry for decades (mainly due to price point and power offering, of course also the MR offering).. I love that GM is allowing american consumers a mid engine all N/A dct offering that is affordable. I only hope that they are able to offer a Grand Sport and base Vette with a manual.
The double clutch was the right move for the vettes.. Double clutch could have done well in the C7 Zr1 and the Z06..

I don't drink Kool-Aid, too much sugar!
The C8 looks like a step in the right direction, but by no means does it seem anywhere near a "finished product". Exterior aesthetics are nice, but the interior looks like something my 13 year old would like.

New C8.. meh.
I was on track to get a C7 Grand Sport. After researching the car I learned about the huge list of problems the C7 has in general + a separate list-o-problems specific to the Grandsport.
GM is THE WORST CAR COMPANY on the earth. They're just stringing everyone along 'till the Warranty's expire.
I think the C7 is great looking car, but I would never buy one until the aftermarket fixes all the known issues.
The C8 might look good, but IMHO will likely be another GM POS the company will resist fixing under Warranty. I'd keep one very dubious eye on the C8 for an extended perioud before buying one.
GM does not have a good track record when it comes to implementing new tech in cars. There's two biggies in the C8.. the mid-engine and the dual clutch.
After researching both the C7 and the C8, discovered the Porsche Cayman checked all the boxes for me.
If the C8 turns out to be half the POS I predict it'll be, Porsche will see a surge in Cayman sales and the value of a used Cayman is going to spike.
If this means Porsche will unleash more power on the Cayman, all the better.

i still love the 981 Cayman and still hope to have one someday, but this C8 is on another level from looks to HP and will have plenty of people like me who aren't brand loyalists or badge snobs likely leaning towards this.....I was never much of a Vette guy, until I saw the C8 and its numbers.(HP, tq, 0-60, price)
its an unbeatable package.....
already have a few builds ....this might be the one

I'm interested.
I had a 2002 (aka, "C5") Convertible 6-speed, Z51 with the fully loaded package, in magnetic red metallic and tan interior and top.
It was a *great* car. Yes, it had some GM quirks, like the crappy interior that was pieced together from left over parts from seemingly every GM economy car at the time. But it was a lot of fun to drive, robust and never gave me any trouble at all. It had the 928 style drive train, engine in front, torque tube and transaxle in back and a near 50/50 weight balance.
I have not been as interested in subsequent versions of the (6 and 7) and especially not the C7 as it really was uncomfortable for me to sit in.
But this one looks like a hang of a lot of fun and a lot of bang for the buck. Can't wait to see one and see how it "fits" me.
I like my 997.2. It's a good car too. It has a lot of Porsche quirks, and honestly, the black plastic interior ain't nothing to brag about.
I also had a 2015 SL400, which I really enjoyed, super nice car and a fantastic daily driver. It had the Designo interior and was just a great car over all. If they made red ones, I'd probably gotten another one. But no red SL's after 2016. (except that orangy color they call cardinal red).
I look at current Carerra S convertibles and while nice cars, I can't really come to grips with $150k daily driver.

Except this is a revolutionary move forward compared to the 992's evolutionary more tepid move forward. I've had 12 Porsches and 1 Corvette so I obviously favor Porsches, but the C8 has me lusting while the 992 is kind of like marrying the same gal for the 5th time.

Chevy has been doing great job with track focused cars for sure! I’m looking forward to driving this car. Who knows if it impresses me enough and I fit I may consider one. The cockpit unfortunately looks a little cramped and not tall driver friendly. I had to drive a t top grand sport in past to fit with my helmet on. A mid engined Chevy 6.2 liter v8 is very exciting.

I think it's a little too boy racer for me. I'll stick with my Cayman S!

I'm wondering how much driver's foot room there is. The engineers said one of the reasons there's no manual transmission is because when the cabin was moved forward 16.5 inches, it made it too close to the front axle to allow room for a 3-pedal pedal box.
