He probably has never shared a track with a Z06 as I have with my GT3. I still love my GT3, but the Z06 is no dud on the track.

I have tremendous respect for Vette owners at the track... They lay down some incredible times.

If it bothers you that other people post about other brands in the other brands subforum of rennlist, so much so as to tell them to go to another forum, you might want to try deriving less of your identity from corporations, or at the very least avoid this subform so as not to get vexed when adults are talking ... and that way when 'your' brand gets challenged, you don't perceive it as a person affront.

Or do you do this on every thread in the other brands subforum?

Corvette was actually started by a group of designers, within a corporation, and a dedicated team has worked on each version every since the first concept.

You can drive a Vette anywhere in the country and get it worked on and get a thumbs up from most anyone who likes cars. There are places you can drive your 911 that will bring out latent hostility because its too ostentatious. Sure many of us don’t care what other people think about our 911. I also bet there are places you won’t park it or drive it either.

I think this is the most exciting thing to come out Detroit in a decade and hope it’s a success on every front. The fact it is a bit more everyman is not a bad thing.

Don’t. He’s the guy who said the C7 Z06 was the most ‘track ready’ Corvette in history. So tons of people like me ordered/bought a new A8 C7 Z06/7 as it was shown to be the fastest version, only for it to not withstand committed road course work. IF the economics work, GM will sell a manual, although once older Corvette owners have a chance to drive a DCT, the demand may not be there.

Look, this is simple. The money required to add a stick shift option to the C8 would have had to come out of some other part of the program.

And it would have taken a lot of money, even if they used a Porsche-style kludge to add manual shifting capability to their DCT.

So the argument shouldn't be about whether or not the C8 will have/should have a manual. The argument should be this: in a car that has already been cost-reduced to within an inch of its life, what features or quality aspects do you want to sacrifice to get it?

It's been a tough thread to follow with the merging and recent troll eruption.
But that one brought a smile. It started with the C7.... and to be fair, the used Porsche world has long been a fertile garden. But, this really changes the game for an expansive demographic of guy or gals to be able to experience a bona fide, world class supercar.

Criticizing a GT3RS, especially on a Porsche forum, is blasphemy.

So no one cares about the 3366lb "dry" weight (~3600lb curb) anymore? Any chance for a lightweight "RS" iteration? How easy would it be for GM to take off 300lb from this car and still keep the price under $100k? Would there be a market for it? Are Corvette folks (both GM and owners) even concerned about weight? Any thoughts?

The safety/design regulations brought us these heavy cars. No doubt the Vette has joined many others in getting insanely heavy since the C6.
Even worse; 4 cylinder Cayman's costing insane $$$.

I was looking at actual (not rendered) C8 pics posted at the corvette forum. The door padding look huge and the whole interior looks packed with "material". Does a sports really need all that padding inside? Are Corvette target market's comfort expectations tilted more towards cruising vs spirited driving?

The door part of the side intake looks weird. That's going to hit a lot of things when the doors get opened:

Many people care. It's a pretty big complaint over on the Corvette forums (probably third behind the lack of a manual, and the **** looking like a Camaro). However, you still have the camp that wants their front-end lift system, powered/heated/ventilated seats, magnetic ride, etc. and still wonder why it's going to be pushing 3,600 lbs.

The chances of a lightweight version are pretty much nil. With the change to a ME architecture, now more than ever they'll be content just to throw more power in it to get the results they want, including electric motors in the future.

In a word, yes. The Corvette demographic is older, and do lean more towards it being a sporty GT car. GM knows they need to change this, but they don't want to totally alienate their current base.
