Average age of 911 buyer is 52 yrs and and 59yrs old for Corvette buyers.

Those tend to sway a bit, but both over 50yrs old but Corvette has always been higher. Assume the C8 will change that possibly.

I'll tell you what, the C8 has gotten 100x more press than the 992 already and it was just announced.

Why some have to make personal attacks against stereotypes of buyers is pathetic.

Why are some so intimidated by a car brand just because it isn't a Porsche?

Bash on the C8, and this supposedly looks good??

It's morphed into a Macan/Cayenne/Panny genetic experiment gone bad. Talk about "corporate back end". LOL

Sorry, I have been around this Porsche attitude for 30 years being a Corvette and Porsche owner, including when I owned 944s in my 20s...always disgusted me. And, no, Corvette guys haven't acted the same as far as I'm concerned

That is one hell of a handicap to overcome on a track.
Yeah, no I don’t consider faster straight line.

I think you are in denial, but only time will tell. Just keep an eye out for track times to start popping up, I know I will be. Don’t get me wrong, I would still choose the GT3 if money wasn’t a factor, but the Corvette makes a hell of an impressive track platform and has since the C5 Z06. The C6/C7 Z51 is an outright bargain with the C7 Z51 rivaling the GT4/GT3 at most tracks I frequent. I do not expect the C8 will take a step backward.

Yep and the C7 grand sport is significantly faster than a 981 GT4 and 997 GT3 on track, and not far off of 991.1 GT3 pace.

Going to be watching the prices of the C7 Grand Sport as well... I have a feeling the prices on them will be at a bargain once the C8's start rolling in.

Would be a good track beater.

That C7 GS looks so hot. I see a ton of brand new ones on cars.com as low as $55k (already $12k below msrp but could go even lower after the C8). Which option package is the best for a drive-to-track car?

No, I'm not in denial. Just giving my view based on what I've observed on tracks. Actually I'm rooting for the C8 to be a spectacular success, since serious competition will be good for Porsche buyers. Nothing like competition to keep prices down.

If you go to the Corvette forum, you'll also see several Porsche haters. Neither Porsche nor Corvette haters disgust me since I view their posts as juvenile, and quickly move to the next post.

Probably not a great prediction. I owned a GT4 and I own a 991.2 GT3T. However, one of the many cars I have owned and tracked often is a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE. At COTA, the GT4 and the Camaro ran almost identical times - these were both pure STOCK cars other than both had SRF brake fluid. A lot of people on this forum track their GT4s, and almost all of them mod them to get faster times - hoosiers, suspension improvements galore, DPs/exhast stuff, throttle bodies, or some combo thereof. IF they are stock, they are very closely matched cars. Now, I would prefer to own the GT4. I love 4 wheeled track machines, I am never in love with a brand.

On an unrelated note, built the same as my previous GT4, the new one cost $25k more . . . for a little additional aero and a slightly more powerful motor. Ouch Porsche, ouch.

Apart from those things, they also tweaked the spring rates and shocks, may have tweaked the alignment, tweaked the steering calibration, and updated the tires - none of these things should change the cost of the car, but they may help performance a bit. I’d expect these changes, in addition to more power and aero, and PDK next year, to make the GT4 and Z51 Corvette similar in performance. Which will beat the other, I’m not sure.

Also, US inflation in the years since the 981 GT4 came out has been 8%, so factor that into your price increase. Still a steep price increase, but I suppose they wanted their share of the ADM game. The pricing is still in line with the rest of the lineup - it’ll probably be the same price or cheaper than a base 992, and comfortably outperform it on track at least.

Rumour is that the 982’s successor will be electric - we’ll see what they do there. No more chance for people to complain about gearing there.

I was initially interested in the 718 GT4 but im certainly not in the mood dealing with the Porsche Dealership games at this time... The buying experience for my GT4 was soured with multiple dealerships offering ADM's, it's ultimately led to me missing out on a .2 GT3 allocation as dealerships were asking even more ADM on one. I had a deposit on the 718 GT4 at the dealership i bought my GT4 from but with the news of the C8 i opted to withdraw my deposit.

Me right now:
