I'm in Houston this weekend. Decided to check out the grey black RS at Porsche of North Houston. Asking is 360k. free rennfax for interested parties.
Inspecting the car I noticed the car has lots of carbon fiber throughout. The carbon is in rough shape and likely will need replacing. For example the ash tray won't open because the carbon is deformed and makes contact with the center console. The decals are starting to look tired with dirt around some edges. Overall looks like a nice car. I'd budget a few thousand for carbon pieces. For the 360k I'd ask PNH to replace these pieces and the decals.

If you are not onsite to contest this 'tie' in real time then your bid is forfeit, this is of course not documented. Even more annoying is that the online system didn't indicate to me that I needed to bid higher because the next 'onsite' increment was $250k and online it forced $20k increments...

Total waste of time LOL
That's ridiculous. I know they'll always have an edge on BaT due to the selection they bring to market but what a crappy buyer experience, and really seller too as it sounds like had their system and process work you would have bid more.

I'd get it if the buyer was pursuing Euro delivery, PTS (can you even get that right now?), or some really esoteric options combination, but the majority are nowhere near creative with their spec at all. German Rainbow paint choices and black leather interior. But ooh, lizard green seatbelts!

Porsche must put something extra in their version of new car smell. I have no other explanation.
The 992s are flashy cars, so I can see why people want them. The average Joe would look at a 997 GT3 and probably estimate it to be a $50k car. A Python Green or Shark Blue base Carrera really does look like a $100k+ car, if not a $200k car to the average person, especially wirh aero kit (“Is that a GT3?”).

I am planning to forfeit my 2023 T MSRP allocation (not to the lock date yet) to get a 997 GT3. Everyone thinks I am crazy for doing so. It will be yet another ordinary looking car in my stable (997 GT3 looks like an M97 IMS-doomed Carrera with an ebay knock-off wing), together with my Evo (basically a Lancer), and my GT350 (which is “just anorher Mustang” to most people).

ones for her

992 Carrera - “wow look honey, that’s a really nice car, what kinda Porsche is that”.

and ones for you

997 GT3 “hey babe look at that, I want one of those, that’s f*badass”

A newly shined up 997 gt3 gets quite a bit more attention than a Gt350r, but your right it’s not a Ferrari where people try and get pictures with it. “Car guys” love GT3s, much the same way guys love my 88’ 5.0 cream puff, although they usually have less teeth

Color matters so much for attention, I'll never forget back in probably 2010 our white 2007 gt3 was next to our 2006 mustang GT in darkish red....my little cousin that was 7 liked the mustang more I blame the color hahahaha

what you guys think this goes for? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...911-gt3-rs-11/

It seems in decent shape

Seeing an annoying trend with BAT cars (GT3's specifically) where a large majority of descriptions read like: "...the current owner acquired the car in blah blah of 2021/2022..."

I'll put a guess out there at $220k.

I do understand the appeal (even if they're not that appealing to me, specifically). Just trying to figure out how the market can continue to support ADMs or mark ups on lightly used base/S or even GTS cars when there are a huge number (1000+) available for sale; as above, Shark Blue/PTS/et al is a good reason to push for new, but most people are still ordering white, silver, or black. Best guess is that a lot of dealerships acquired inventory at hugely inflated 2021/2022 prices and the relative handful of private party sellers out there are simply aping them. Worth noting that new cars on lots are still almost impossible to come by (I bet those go for MSRP).

Carrera T is the 992 I'd go for, too, and those also aren't readily available yet. But as a 997 owner myself, I don't think you're crazy at all for preferring it to the 992 (frankly, if I were buying a factory new Porsche and could get an MSRP allocation at will, my top choices at the ~160, ~130, and ~100 price points would all be mid-engine i.e. 4RS > GT4 > Boxster GTS). Even putting aside the drive, the lack of attention it draws (even compared to my earlier GT4s) is actually a huge plus.
