Finally got my interior bits back from getting wrapped by a great guy in Germany I connected with through ebay.
He did the shift boot, console lid and handbrake.
Had the center console painted by my local body shop and it all turned out amazing.
But the BEST upgrade was removing the Short shifter that came with my car (custom made by my dealership Pfaff Porsche back in 2010) for a new OEM 997 Short Shifter.
Before installing the new SSK I performed the Function First Shift RIght Solution modification to it and I couldn't be happier with the results!!
Slop is almost completely gone. Shifting is short and precise but still smooth. It honestly feels like a brand new car. Easily top 3 in all the modifications I've done.
So glad I didn't go with the Numeric.

I can't stand talking my cars anywhere for service. Over the past 30 years, I can probably count on both hands the number of times I've gotten a car back from somewhere where I didn't then have to adjust, redo, or finish what they shop didn't do to my standards, whether that was improperly torqued lug bolts or a coolant hose run the wrong way around a belt so the belt wore a hole in it, or a piece of trim installed incorrectly or damaged.
I now have virtually every tool I need to do almost any job, time permitting.

I understand you 100%, I wish that I had the space for my own lift, I got mine back from my OPC, I’m very happy with these guys but after my last visit, which involved a complete front suspension re-fresh I found two nicks on my wheels around one of the lug nuts, 1 nick on each side!
I’ll be back there soon for a belt and idler change so I’m sure to be having a word with the manager about the damage.

Was up in Sacramento for a couple of weeks at our other home and when I saw temps above 100 in the forecast we headed out to our place in Mendocino County. 57-60F is far better for a cabriolet!
Quick interior updates - decided to try black plastic trim bits for a change hoping they don't show wear as much. If I don't like them, I'll take the originals and paint them the exterior color to match the center console that's getting painted.
Finally refreshed this piece (in black) but need to replace mounting tab at top of triangle beige passenger triangle has no wear so it's staying for now replaced shift **** / boot, new painted console on the way

sadly, that slush finish is very poor at holding up over time. It really dates a car. Porsche used to use much better materials and finishes years ago. Starting with the 996 and 997 models that wear is accelerated. I painted my light switch surround GT silver. it teaches you that you need to bite the bullet when ordering these cars to load certain areas with leather. Having a leather covered console has kept mine pretty fresh.
Added a sub slot to the Recaro GTs. My buddy has a 3D printer so we custom made the passthrough. Looks near OEM compared to the generic passthroughs you can universally use.
Hey I know this is old... what can I say, its a slow work morning and this is my guilty pleasure.
If you take 3D printed parts (FDM) and brush / spray with acetone, it will "melt" the layers and get you a more homologated part and a smoother finish. It does however create a "glossy" part.
