So we looked into that, and it would have been a full restoration at that point (lots more dollars). They did an amazing job, because who ever had the car before me destroyed the paint (flaking clear coat etc).
I was thinking of getting all of mine sprayed as well, as I need a front end, bonnet, bumper and a few touch ups here and there doing. The shop I went to said that they would only paint the whole car if they take all the windows, windscreen etc out to ensure it will be a perfect finish.
Can you see any paint lines or differences?
Nick
I stripped my wife's car when we bought if for the color change, then put it back together. Someone else did the prep and paint work - same guy that did my widebody Cayenne.
I removed the doors, sunroof, mirrors, lights, hood, decklid, etc. then out it back together when it was painted with the different bumpers, wwheels, and the TT rear decklid.
No you don't see paint lines. When you take out the glass pieces, you then have to replace the 15yr old rubber molds and trim. It starts to add up really fast. Your paint job could double in costs mainly because of the labor involved.
Noticed a torn CV boot on my front driver side when investigating a washer fluid leak. Today I got some tools and removed the axle. Inspected the bearings on both ends, and everything looks good, so I am replacing the boots and repacking the joints. Removal took 2.5 hours.
Working on the other wheel it became obvious to me that I need to replace my control arms. The LCA nut at wheel carrier was so rusted it took 2 hours of PB and then I hit it with a map torch, and it still took a breaker bar with all my might to remove. Ordered the kit that includes the full steering tie rod assembly.
there is a special tool for the upper tie rods right?
I reinstalled my fabspeed cai. I had reinstalled the stock air box after several months of the fabspeed cai and it didn’t take long to realize the car just runs better with the fabspeed. The idle sounds better and it seems to breath much better. I don’t know if there any performance gains but sure sounds better.

I've read that the stock air box on the .2 is not a limiting factor with how the car breathes. Would be interested to better understand how specifically you're sensing that the car is running better. Faster / smoother revs? How is it running better?

Thanks.
The car idles smoother on cold starts and sounds more like a sewing machine. The stock airbox seems like it has a rattle to it making the idle sound funny and it never really smoothes out. I don’t notice any difference on revs or power but I like the smoother sounding idle. I’m sure the stock airbox has adequate flow. I just like the sound of the fabspeed CAI better. Sorry I don’t have a more technical answer.
I may try the BMC filters as an alternative. The only concern that I might have with the Fabspeed CAI is if heat buildup in the engine compartment ended up impairing performance. I understand that the stock air box reduces that possibility.
Installed the SiriusXM module to my Kenwood unit and installed an aftermarket GT3 Style bumper for which i have mixed feelings about at the moment due to proper fitment and the color appears to be off a tab bit. Also tried wrapping my CS on the boot, not too crazy about it (first time) will re do.

I originally thought the same thing but have taken several four hour trips and I have not noticed any impairments. The air intakes from the hood rest on the elements so they are receiving the sane amount of cold air. The stock airbox gets pretty warm. I would like to hear your results from the BMC filters. The CAI intake is overpriced in my humble opinion.
