I have an interesting story to tell about the eRams.
Dave not only makes them for our cars, he makes them to replace the hydraulic wing system on Carrera GT's.
In the United States there is one shop that specializes in Carrera GT's. Everyone who owns a Carrera GT sends theirs there for service. And when the hydraulic spoiler rams fail this shop alway recommends replacing them with the eRams because the hydraulic system is fatally flawed. No one is going spend the money on a new OEM replacement hydraulic system for the Carrera GT, it's $40k, nor rebuild them knowing they're just going fail again.

Wealthy people aren't stupid.
it's the main reason they are wealthy and i'm not!
Installed a backup camera and had it working but cracked the dang screen getting the head unit back in with all the wires behind the dash. Pissed me off but gave me the excuse to upgrade to a more modern Alpine.
My Turbo has the original OEM spoiler system (21.5+ years old) and I've never had a problem with it. So when an issue does arise, I'll have it fixed and stay with it.

Impressive!
Mine still works, whilst slowly seeping the Stop Leak I put in years ago.
What I did today: broke one of the silver covers to the headlight washers trying to remove it to refurbish my headlights, so ordered a couple new headlight washers (~$75 ea., annoying but cheap compared to our $2.5k+ headlight assemblies).
not sure what you’ve read enough of, but it is the only permanent solution. The hydraulics WILL fail again, hence the lifetime warranty they need to provide. Removing and shipping the mechanicals to Germany for refurb doesn’t seem that fun.
In case the hydraulics fail every ~20 years, I personally tend to accept that fact compared to installing something else.
If I subtract the 400€ for the repair from the $1.800 for the eRam Kit, I guess I can still ship the hyraulics a couple of times between US and Germany.

True. We have done 3 Carrera GTs this summer. One had been rebuilt a few times. It was a mess.
I am extremely satisfied with the work carried out by Harald in Belgium."https://dh-automotive.com/" He took care of the transport from home and back with fedex. The job is very well done with long lasting seals, not like the Porsche ones ;-) Got no relation with this company but I am a happy customer....
It seems that ~68K miles is the magic number for things to start breaking on my TT. Steering lock, foam, instrument cluster and now the door regulator. I know it's very glamorous and has been done many times by other YouTubers; but it hasn't been done in 4K and using the Yogi's Garage magic. So, here's an updated video. And yes, it's Boxster Red.

If it was just the hydraulic rams that failed, your compromise would be understandable. But often times it’s the pump mechanism that breaks. The piston block cracks, or jams or strips. Getting that fixed is no $400 affair. It’s a $1000+.
...piston block crack can only occur when the upper microswitch becomes defect or when already a fair amount of oil has been lost.
I agree that this system isn't bullet proof, but back in 2000 this was state of the art. I find it unfair blaming and blackmailing it when failing after 20 years of use.

Not completely true, I have seen the block break/seize even without any leaking.

It's a flawed and badly designed system. Saying so is in no way unfair and many systems failed just a few years from new, mine only made it 9 years. The eRams I personally installed have been working flawlessly for 12 years.
