My fiancé didn’t understand why I was so careful, she just thought I didn’t want to scratch anything.

just driving mine, almost 177k kms on my '2 now... blasting out a number of 996tt's majors/engine outs and starting on a 7gt3 now...
BUT, also working on a 964 Turbo conversion car (and a new customer to me), haven't fully torn-down the engine yet but #2 rod has made a new window to see out of the block....anyone have a 964 Turbo/930/3.2 engine case and crank for sale?

.....my sincere condolences! This will certainly add up to the cost of a standard engine rebuild - which isn't that cheap anyway.

Just for my personal education: didn't it made any noise before that happened?

Dropped mine off for an alignment/corner balance since I installed new coilovers. Shop has moved locations, had to do thru rush hour, grid lock traffic to get there. Ugh.

I feel your pain; traffic is rapidly becoming something I loathe more than -30c weather.

Rush hour and there was an accident. Not a good combo. At that moment, quite happy my car doesn't have the GT2 clutch slave conversion...

I didn't do anything on either 996TT, but I did spend some love on their stable mate, as shown here.
Thinking a Gulf livery on the black 996TT would be fun, per this project a decade ago.

I love that wrap. Someone locally had a similar wrap done to their car, when I asked how much it cost, I practically gasped. Wraps like that are easily $7000+, which is far more than I could justify spending

Just got back from picking up the car, alignment made a huge difference. Here's the spec sheet from Porsche, I've got it set up to the GT2 specs now, basically

Here are my corner weights, ride heights, etc. I nailed this, they didn't have to adjust it at all, which saved me a bunch of money, woohoo!

I'm surprised the alignment was so far off though. In the front I'd marked the center line of the strut tops and lined those up. I didn't touch the tie rods or the blocks in the lower control arms, so that shouldn't have changed. In the rear, again, I didn't touch the eccentrics or anything. Since the ride height stayed the same I would've thought everything would be pretty close and maybe only the front camber would need to be tweaked. Nope, it was all outta whack...

Worth spending the money on for sure. Next is the off season work, so oil change, remove the front brake calipers and either send them off to get rebuilt/refinished or rebuild them myself. Depends on $$$. To a certain extent I'm not sure getting them refinished while I still plan on tracking the car makes sense, but the cost difference between me buying the parts vs spending them out to get rebuilt and refinished isn't all that much...

Run into any DB5s?

That road looks very familiar.
