My dad is an older boomer almost bought one new in the late 70s, but he told me he didn't want to spend the money as he thought it would be better idea/more responsile to buy a house and start a family.

I frequently remind him about all the time and money he wasted listening to societys advice about marriage and family (but hey, times were different )

P.S i have nothing against marriage and family

scored a set of used left/right radiators off a 997TT from the marketplace, finally got a chance to clean them up a bit but havent had muc time to focus on the TT but am hoping to get the IC hose back on tomorrow.

took me 3 tries to get the valves adjusted right on my track car (dc2) which is serving as a temporary daily driver. no more ticking, idles smooth and has alittle extra power!

No more sewing machine noises under the hood! My first time it took forever and a half just to do 16 valves. In 100K miles I think I only needed to do it once though.

Also a Z lover, since it’s Easter, here’s my early Z.

My Dad had a '76 280Z, promised it to me for my high school car. Mom heard about that and killed that idea...

To bad would have been fun car.. I used to “borrow” my brothers 240 and drive to school, he wasn’t to thrilled to hear about it, years later when one of my class mates bought it. I remember all the muscle car guys wanted to race, fortunately I declined.

That sounds like a blast. Wish we had more elevation change here or twisty roads without potholes and heavy traffic.

700k, that's a lot of Z's!

I wanted those 5-slot wheels for my old 280Z, long since gone. I'll have to suffer with the minilites I got.

The minilities are my favorite's... The slot’s are coming off, as they are the only things not original to the car. Finally found original D hubcaps.

Got my IC hoses back on and properly installed the clips. Did a nice 3rd - 4th gear pull and they stayed put! I also gave all the hoses a nice tug to make sure they weren't going anywhere before I buttoned it all up.

I love driving this thing, can't wait to get the coilovers for it!

Nissan had exactly the right car at exactly the right time. It pretty much put the British sports car industry out of business. Years passed before any other car maker did anything similar. Then... they turned it into a luxury car in 79.

I watched comedians in cars getting coffee, specifically the episode where Jerry takes Eddie Murphy in a Porsche Carrera GT.

recognized a surprising number of bits from the 996!

steering wheel, door airbags.

kinda cool.

My dad had a mint 71 240z that was completely redone and absolutely perfect. I just assumed it would be mine when I turned 16 in 1986 - I mean, why wouldn’t it? I was destined to be a cool dude cruising in that car, but 2 weeks before my birthday he sold it.

Stupid me had no idea how much insurance cost with 2 boys and he was just a middle class guy who couldn’t afford to keep his toy, so they sold it and got a Maxima, which was a blast anyway. If I did get that Z I would be dead - I managed to get in enough trouble with way slower/dorkier cars. I entertained the idea of tracking it down and trying to buy it back but never got anywhere with it.

By the way - we moved from Panama to San Antonio, and we picked up that car in Charleston and drove it all the way to SA - yes, a family of four, with 2 seats, a hatchback, and all our luggage. That was a different time. 😜
