What did you do to your 996TT today?

I've driven with some of these guys for a while and we sometimes swap cars... I always get a kick out of it when someone swaps out of a Super-series McLaren or Ferrari Speciale or $200k+ modern 911 and is still blown away by how good a well set up 996 Turbo is!
I know I absolutely love driving it in the caynon twisties.

I will echo your comments on a well setup 996 - it is divine.

Two new "Jahn" brand German made D2S bulbs in the 180k mile car. Well worth the 100 USD investment, the old bulbs were more akin to candles.

I momentarily had serious thoughts about trading my 996 in for a Ferrari 360 yesterday. The 360 had an unknown maintenance history and the seller seemed kinda sketchy so quickly talked myself out of it.
I couldn't rationalize getting rid of my perfectly dialed in car that needs nothing for a car that I know nothing about. Also, I like 911s too much. If I ever get a Ferrari it will have to be when I can afford to have one of those AND a 911 in the garage with it.

I would have to go to at least a 458 Italia to even consider giving up one of my Turbos... And it is still slower than either.
355 is a great drivers car and a superb driving experience, but not even in the same planet performance wise. 360 is just a no. 430 is fun to drive, and I've driven a few that I really enjoyed, but they just get killed at altitude.
I did drive a friends McLaren MP4-12C today, and yeah, it is QUICK! And prices are semi-sane.... Service? Another story...

They crack manifolds on a regular basis, require huge amounts of maintenance, and are not particularly reliable.

So went to my early morning testing grounds and pulled two logs for Sam - this will now be Version 3 of the tune, and it just keeps getting better and better.
Drivability is vastly improved and most of the hesitation within throttle response is almost non existent. In the last version of the tune, he worked some voodoo and has the boost coming on sooner, while the transition between gears is almost billiard table smooth.
Intake temp peaked at 88f and what I find interesting is that the instant I lifted the throttle and within 35 rpm (yes, 35 rpm!) the intake temp dropped 2 degrees, within 700 rpm it had dropped another 4 degrees.
I remain very happy with this tuning platform; although the Cobb is a nice piece of hardware, Sam, and his ability to extract maximum performance out of it, makes it well worth the effort.
Cheers,

What really impresses me is how the dialing in process shows remarkable improvements with every revision - on my road trip this week, I intentionally waited to get the next revision done until I had some highway time (2200kms-ish). I could tell the on/off transition of the throttle was a little jerky and pedal response from the 6 to 5th downshift was a little chunky.
Without any logs, and just my description of the behavior, Sam was able to smooth it out immensely. This morning, I gave him a couple of logs and he suggested I have a look at the TB to make sure it wasn't gummed up - it wasn't (I forgot how much stuff had to come apart to look at the TB, and now I hope I have not introduced any new boost leaks... we shall see). Reset the throttle plate twice, heard a click, so looking good.
And all of this without having to strap the car to a dyno; most impressive indeed.

It sure, but when I blipper the throttle, it was very slow to respond, I had to blip it pretty good, better than twenty five percent, to match the revs.

Seemed ok on other gears, so I was thinking it had something to do with vacuum being lower at high gear as the engine was turning over at a lower RPM range, but I am still learning and not 100% on that.
