I bought mine from rock auto for $180 for driver side. it is not fun to replace but isn't bad. you need a 8mm triple square drive which I didn't have. I loosened the outside door handle to line up the key cylinder lock actuator. it wasn't fun as it is a blind operation but based on the amount of cursing this wasn't too bad.

Well, I finally was able to track down the previous owner of my car and ask what mods had been done.
All that I have to say is that I probably need to do intercoolers, and I'm considering going with the Markski 3.5" ones. For those of you with the 997.2 GT2RS IC's, do you find they're efficient enough? I am now certain I have the K16 Billet Package from Markski (Turbos, Injectors, Etc.) but the PO didn't do IC's.

This is exactly what I did. However, mine was to reseal the front differential. Once complete, I swapped the front diff and axles with new boots back on. I will keep the stubs for when I do the LSD...

No. Not the 996TT versions which appear to use a low grade core which I'm willing to bet is inferior to the OEM 7.2 core. That is why they do not give you a comparison to the 7.2 IC but only the stock 996 IC.
They do sell the 997 "big pack" ICs (see link below) which utilize a UK made motorsport core which looks substantially better, not Marston grade but very good nonetheless. The "big packs" are not going to be a direct bolt on but likely not any more difficult than any of the aftermarket offerings. You will have to modify the ducts. This is what I would use if I was not using the Marston ICs.
