Neat fix, had a similar problem (similar size we are) and used a modified flat bottomed wheel.

Fit is much better now.

You can get new ones from the UK for around $750. I made a WTB thread and had multiple people send me messages...picked the best of the bunch and that was it. $500 later I'm in business.

I always find it ridiculous that the steering columns in our cars don't tilt/extend.

My 1997 Audi A4 had a tilt/extend column on it.

You get the 997 gt2rs intercoolers from autodocuk for cheap

Our cars have an extend feature just not a tilt.

Stock or aftermarket steering wheel, they all do the same thing. The column is what telescopes.

I said "stock" to cover my bases in case someone had modified the car to do otherwise (read: tilt.)

I said "steering wheel" because that's what Porsche refers to the adjustment as (page 33 in the owner's manual.)

I wonder how you would modify it to 'tilt' - there would have to be a knuckle (compact) in there , some how, that allowed free rotation of an already large steering wheel.

Who knows? Maybe a mechanism off of a 991 (it their steering wheels tilts, and I have no idea if it does.)

T is correct, but it is the whole column that moves up and down, I think on the 996, the easiest way to do it would be right where the steering wheel attaches.

Sounds like an engineering project for someone.
