Do either of you have a pistol in the car? If so where is it? I keep mine in the door compartment, im trying to figure out how to secure it so it doesnt clunk around in there.

Mike, they're either out of a 996 GT3 or a 997.1 GT3 as they have the smaller ~140mm carrier bolt distance. 2fcknfst, yeah, cosmetically they're a little, um, challenged but they have it where it counts. All the zircon pucks are present and in great shape and the dust boots are also in great shape showing no real signs of heat. I may refinish them but what's slowing me down is I don't have a blast cabinet, I have no desire to completely disassemble them for powdercoat and I don't really feel like refinishing my rear calipers to match. I'm not a concours guy so I may see what I can do to touch them up and just install them.

Pancing, they're replacing the stock 4 piston front brake calipers...

18" wheels. They should clear fine as the 996 GT3 came with 18" wheels too

Neoprene holsters and a little velcro will not only hold it in place, but does away with the clunking, flying around noise.

Very cool, so you're moving to a 350mm disc, or does it work with your existing rotor?

I think that is effectively the same front caliper I have with the PCCBs.

And just as importantly, you have great roads to drive as well...

Looks like it was a great time

pancing/2fcknfast, I'm going to the 350mm rotors all the way round. These calipers only work with 350mm rotors as that's what the GT3 came with, not our smaller 330's. Yes, these are basically the same front calipers as the 996 PCCB's, although I think the rear calipers are different. You use 997tt brake rotors, they bolt right up. I'm not sold on paying the $$$ for giro discs, you can't feel the difference in performance and for the cost differential you can buy multiple sets of 1 piece rotors. The Sebro slotted 997tt rotors are something like ~$135 each...

Yeah I can see that, especially if you are consuming them on an ongoing basis...

I really like the feel of my brakes - very confident and stable.

I agree - Girodiscs are not a good value. I had 2-piece 350mm Brembo rotors and they are just so pricey and a pain to have to rebuild. I'm all about the plain old slotted Sebros. They don't look nearly as pretty, but they're a wear item once per year for me so it's not worth it to have 2 piece.

My stock brakes feel great on the street and pretty decent on track (with GT2RS front brake ducts). Only issue is on a longer track session (30 minutes) I started to overwhelm them. With the increased pad area and larger rotor size.heat sink I should be in pretty good shape with this GT3/OEM+ upgrade.

I came to the same conclusion.

I noticed a big improvement past the 20 minute mark when I made the switch. The reason I asked about 996 vs 997 calipers is that if you go full 997 (350mm) all around the overall piston size is greater than what the 996 master cylinder was sized for and you end up with longer brake pedal travel.

I have not yet switched in the 997 GT3 master cylinder on my car but the parts are on my workbench, and I’m planning to get it done this spring. I can’t comment on how much it changes the feel/travel but others have said it is significant.

You mentioned heat sinks, what are you using?
