This will help to boost resale values and awareness big time. While expertise sells, the reality is that service sells expertise. The new business model and product innovations will have a multiplier effect on overall business. I like where they are going.

That F6I went disappointingly low.
But it was an older build and wasn’t marketed very well.
Not that I plan to sell mine EVER, but when it does go to the next owner(my kids most likely) it will have over 375 spare parts to help keep it on the road for years to come.
...as long as fuel is still being sold.
If my kids don’t want it they have a note recommending they put it on BaT, if it still exists.

There was another FSI build I remember not going for all that much, it was a black C4, or something like that. I forget when exactly that was if it was during or before the boom here. Regardless I think the moral of the story is whenever you do something with a car whether it be modding or engine rebuild/replacement don't count on getting that money back. I would argue that it's even more true now than in the past because people are looking for clean, stock examples. This is no slight at FSI by any means just more of a assume that money is gone and any extra you get in a sale is gravy.
Lets face it, its difficult to take all of the info from the Rennlist firehose and grasp the meaning and application in the short time period they are shopping for a car.
Good news is we collectively have the solutions.

You may be right. But my bet is that most new 996 buyers have no clue what they should look for in a 996, so they go for color and miles instead of a well sorted car.

I wouldn't be surprised over the next couple of years as the 991 and 992 come out of warranty and the complexity and cost of fixing pushes a portion of these owners away from the high tech cars and they instead move downstream to the 996 and 997 where the cost to service and maintain is not only more attractive, but the driving experience is more interactive.

I feel like this guy got a good deal on a 996.2 with a motor on a bored out motor with nickies

996 with a FSI 4.0 selling today, should be interesting:

Looks like the secondary market will spend more for an LS Swap than a FSI 4.0, if I remember back a few months ago.
