It often seems like Car&Bids is actively trying to bring down the value of 996s.

I took a closer look at that ad and photos and this one concerns me!
I'll be shocked if the price goes any higher.

The dealer's reluctance to outright say it's a RWD car is odd to me, but he might just be playing the salesman game.

Lot of time left in the auction, and the real bidders won't come out until near close. My guess is low-mid $20s

Looks like an every other year oil change schedule.
The body has a lot of...patina, which doesn't bother me if the car is cheap. (Cheap is NOT 20K+)
The hole in the bottom of the car bothers me.
The car is obviously not as "advertised."
It is not a C4 and definitely not a C4S!

In fairness to Quirks & Features --- err, Cars & Bids, they're not describing the car by the black stuff on its engine cover. They have it correctly described as a 2wd car.

Well I was wrong about PCM on this one. Strong turnout.

Sold at $20K. I guess prices are still strong for 996's.

People on there saying is was a great deal and should have sold for $30k have me scratching my head. A 5 owner, 83k mile tip cab with accident history. $20k seems like a strong price for that IMO. I mean none of them were actual bidders so that's somewhat telling

Collector cars like that yellow GT3 that's about to go on a trickle charger and not be driven a mile excluded, it's normal to see prices drop down a tad during winter months. That's when deals can be had if someone needs to sell. You're most likely better off waiting till spring time to get more money if it's a car that will be actually used and you're a seller.

2004 targa brings a strong price considering standard-issue colors and accident history. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...rrera-targa-2/

996 GT3 kinda fizzles. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...he-911-gt3-60/ But then it didn't really do that well the last time despite the high fallutin' seller. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...he-911-gt3-60/

A neighbor is selling his silver 2001 turbo coupe. It is immaculate, 26,590 miles, manual transmission, leather interior. No scratches on rims. Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI) completed 1-5-23. Asking price is $62K. I plan on seeing it tomorrow

Don't love those wheels but that seems like a great price

Yup wheels are terrible. Priced $10-$15k below market.

I suddenly have an itch to buy a 996. someone talk me out of it.
Have 87 3.2 + '14 981S
Had 987.2 and 991S

Realistically what should I budget for a 996 that's not a fixer upper. Not looking for a garage queen.
