I've never bought, let alone bid on anything from BaT, nor have I ever listed anything for sale there. Just an interested owner with more time on my hands than I should.

Cool. We certainly need cheerleaders for the 996. I am a big one. Keep the momentum going. I was serious about starting a 996 index. Manheim has one for used car prices. Check out their website. It's a very helpful economic indicator that I will refer to from time to time.

Anybody into startups? How about 996Coin, all we do is trade ownership shares in 996s, we never actually own, ship, or maintain anything. Kinda like Bring a Trailer, auction cars without ever taking the risk of buying and reselling. We'll tell our neighbors that 996Coin is the hottest currency around, they'll all buy, we'll make a fortune. If you have a 996 you can immediately start selling shares (for a small nominal fee). I'll volunteer to be the blockchain administrator, and moderate transactions (he-he!). The perfect OPM startup (Other People's Money). We won't even have to deal in real 996s, we'll just create virtual cars in the system and nobody will ever know. Then all we really have to do is count-de-cash. Sound good?

Based on how well my Porsche 996 videos are doing, I believe there's a lot of interest in this "affordable" 911 model. I've been trolling Instagram too using hastags like #996 and #Porsche996 and there's lots of love out there.

It's not like I'm addicted. Every few days I like to look and noticed there was one almost the same as mine so I clicked "watch". It then sends a text half hour before sale and I turn it on. I'm also a '60s car guy and it's fun to see something out of the ordinary.

Keeps you out of trouble unless you are an impulsive buyer.

Better yet I’m selling a photo of my 996 4s’ rear end as a NFT. Bidding will start at $50k.

BaT is a great place to sell with high knowledge, and to buy with low knowledge. Not ever vice versa IMO.

And Type 996 bounce is a decade late, but inevitable regardless of temporal economics.

Not going to be watching at work anymore. My supervisor, Homer, at the power plant caught me and reminded me that screen is for the reactor coolant temp and flow readings.

The Bat website has each data point presented on a graph. Would need software to read that site every day, export or save to Excel or a database, and then track changes day to day or week to week. And then use market data across dealers, cars.com, autotrader, etc.

Come to think of it, that’s what CarMax and others like it do all day long. It’s actually their business model and why they make money. Of course, they also pull other data and try to correlate ups and down to take advantage of market fluctuations week to week, season to season, etc.

There's no reason not too, it's everything a 911 should be, currently is, and ever will be. Whether other people realize that is a non-issue on my end, but it's nice to see a growing appreciation/likeness in general.

End of the day, we have a kick *** sports car (some) bought at the bottom of a curve. Mine at a much younger age than anticipated because it always felt out of reach. Out of reach pricing may be happening now. What's not to love?

I really started this thread because as 996 prices began to rise as 2021 began, many people were in denial and continued to write off higher prices as one off sales, or because of the particular color, or because of the low mileage. I wanted to document enough data points to show that its an across the board move higher that can't be explained away as one off transactions. I think that's clear to everyone now.

Absolutely, but we also need to bare in mind that price increases have occurred across the board for sports cars in general. I wouldn't say there's a definitive element (aside from maybe more people WFO with disposable income due to Covid), but it's not only 996 bringing more money. The days of a $60k 6MT 360M are now out of my grasps.
