Without a doubt. In fact, aside for a slight correction, the prices we've seen in the past are ancient history. This is the new normal. For what it's worth. I for one am glad I took advantage now before it was out of my price range. I'm just kicking myself in the *** for not doing it sooner. I was hooked on Audi's for many years and worked on quite a few. It never quite felt easy to work on those compared to how things are with my 996. I'm looking forward to dropping the engine, poking around and documenting everything on my channel. I think it'll be a great reference point for future wrenchers.

Soon enough there will be a thread about “coulda, shoulda” 996s that got away.

I thought, "here we go again...they're not really goingup."
Boy were you right and I was wrong.
They are going up.
But as others have said, all sports cars seem to be going up as well.
I specifically watch Miatas, Boxsters, 944s, 928s, and Subies.
They have all gone up, but not nearly as much as 996es.

Higher selling prices don't matter much to me since my 996 is not for sale, and I don't ever plan to sell mine.
But higher prices do prevent me from getting another 996...which might actually be a good thing!

3. He has no reason to lie because even if the guy was able to enable autopilot and jump in the back (which I doubt because when I lift my butt off the seat to access my wallet my Tesla brakes hard) it would be an unauthorized use of the feature, as if you drove your Porsche at 120mph on a 25mph public street and caused death.
4. These anecdotal events will do little to affect adoption of electric cars, more than anything they show the weight carried by companies like GM to sway the news cycle and how financial pundits report on Tesla. You want lies, watch the news across two stations that are politically opposite.

Elon puffs the product a lot but he's not a blatant liar. He's sometimes late with features but overall he delivers. He's loose with labels like FSD but they do creep closer and closer. He was slapped down by the FCC but that was more of a rule infringement than a lie.
Regarding 2 and 3, you are incorrect. FSD can easily activate on a road with no lines -- this has been proven over and over again. The seat sensor has no impact on FSD operation either. LMAO at being sometimes late, FSD was coming in 2016.. then 2017, 2018.. 2019. 2020 (oh wait wasn't there supposed to be 1 million robotaxis on the road by now?). That's just the tip of the iceberg of the TSLA fraud.

Elon will go down as the biggest scammer of the last decade. The cars are neat and I applaud him for changing the narrative on EVs, but he is a complete scumbag.

Not in the last year, sure, but Miata prices (at least for nice NAs, and late-model NBs) have been going up for a long time, but that's different forces in play, the attrition rate is much higher there. IMO the 986 will not get any love for a long time -- that's the same story as the 924/44/28/etc, they will only be worth something once all the cheap ones are destroyed.

I know from trying countless attempts that it's impossible to activate autopilot on a suburban residential streets. You're talking about main city roads without lines, and you are absolutely right, but that's not where this happened. Its a simple fact I verified in practice many times. However, regarding opinions I fully respect yours because "He who replies to words of Doubt Doth put the Light of Knowledge out.

Holy Sh__! $55K for a 996!! All it takes is 2 people wanting that car..... great!! I loved watching that. I thought my 2001 at 45500 miles was low mileage. That will raise all the prices on BAT, what an impact.
