Huge improvement IMO:

If they hadn’t already, I’d say those headlights look like they’re gonna win LeMans
Sad, a bastardization of a rare 964 RS America.

Furthermore, I don't know real numbers, but anecdotally I feel like D chunking and cracked heads is a more common failure on the early cars than IMSB failures or bore scoring. My 3/98 has a fully rebuilt engine with Nickies by a PO because of D chunking.

Honestly, I think there was more than just this engine failure bringing down the sale price on that .2 cab. Speed yellow is a polarizing color, and I feel like a lot of the individuals that love it want coupes rather than cabs. And with the mileage being over 100k I don't think it gets the same value boost for being a rare color. I don't think those headlight covers or the 3 other cabs and 6 other 996s listed helped anything either.
According to the receipt shown in the auction pics, it was a brand new Porsche short block that was installed. $20K out the door (6/2010).
Somebody dodged a MAJOR bullet!

Missed that, thanks for sharing! I wonder if it is cracked head(s) this time around then. Either way, you're definitely right and someone got very lucky!

Great looking car, and fully sorted, but am I missing something? Can't imagine this being more than 65-70k

$100K+ 996’s will be as common as 964

Its the same “ugly duckling” 911 thing

I am happy about the rising prices too, but lets be real, that is just a very high ask on a low mileage example.

I can post my 170k mile 99 c4 on eBay and ask a million bucks for it, but that doesn't mean anything.

Nice car though. Probably 60-65k in this market, in my opinion.

After the mess with the 996.1 engine debacle, a well serviced car with a long history of records will command a premium to just a pretty car.

Unicorn colors don't matter. What matters is if the engine was taken care of. Regardless of the miles.

I'll post mine up tomorrow for $200k. Doesn't mean squat until you show my that payment invoice.

I’m no conspiracy theorist…..but if you were actively trying to lower the average selling price of a specific model……
this is an example you would offer for sale.
WTF is up with BAT?
It will be interesting to see what this sells for

edit: to include receipt for full interior and exterior detail

Looks like BAT had no inventory and opened the floodgates for mediocrity. Damn shame. High water mark was the red 996.2.

That car looks like a mess. It will be interesting to see what it goes for. Who reupholsters a seat and doesn't fix the seat back?!?!

Not to be a Kill-Joy, but
* Second Gen IMS Bearing was installed on 9/02/2020 ---
means the engine was totally disassembled and re-assembled . I hope who ever did this paid more attention to detail than the person who wrote the add,,ie.
Integrated Dry Pump Lubrication

Croos Flow Cylinder Cooling
lol,....the devil is in the details !!
