I came from air cooled and was looking for something as close to the air cooled experience as possible while still having some creature comforts (like reliable AC) for road trips. Since I do all my own work, I also wanted it as simple as possible so I ruled out a C4 and turbos. I made a killing when I sold the 1970 911T so cost wasn't really part of the decision.

What would a full wrap using the best material cost? What would be the expected lifetime of such a wrap? What would a full body quality repaint cost?

I'm in that "rare category" 02 c4s forest green with tan leather. Oh yeah that's right, that's a Euro not a US spec. So does anyone wanna sell me their Speed Yellow c4s instead? Prices for 996's are not going to drop any even after corrections in the market in general.35K will be the new bottom as I see it.

Sorry, perhaps I worded my feelings about silver a little too strongly. I did not mean to offend anyone. If you like silver that's great, everyone has their own opinions and tastes, and I would never come up to you and make negative comments about the color of you car. I just simply wouldn't consider one in that color, because of my preferences.

I will admit I don't have a ton of experience with wraps, but from what I have read and heard from the people I know with wraps, a quality wrap job costs $5k+ and only lasts about 3-5 years if the car is driven normally and doesn't just sit in a garage. I have heard this is especially true of brightly colored wraps.

For a full body quality repaint, I had a Mercedes that suffered from the red paint problem and the lowest quote I got to repaint it with a factory quality paint job was just shy of $20k. I will admit that in this case the car had to be taken to bare metal to fix the paint issue, which ordinarily would not be necessary and added a few grand to the cost.

Me too. Here are the facts:
  • Italian cars are red.
  • British cars are green
  • French cars are blue
  • And German cars are silver.
It's a fact -- it is written!

The only color that really matters is speed yellow. If you have speed yellow, you can brag about your color. If not, no one cares

I’m only somewhat serious btw. I have a seal gray car over graphite gray interior.

Paint To Sample has to be a desirable color otherwise it is not desirable

That’s just obvious. I’ve seen quite a few butt ugly PTS cars I wouldn’t touch

Other hand is I’ve never seen a Speed Yellow Porsche I didn’t like. And I don’t like a lot of Porsches

honestly if it's a car I'm going to be driving a lot I don't really care the color as long as its dark. I don't have a front plate and I frequently find myself going well over the speed limit so I'm confident a SY or GR car would've got me more traffic tickets than my slate grey. but if i could i would have one in every color
