Just remember, they are not making any more 996s. Every year, the supply will dwindle due to neglect, accidents or some "innovator" swapping the engine for a vacuum cleaner or 4 banger that only a small portion of the population will find worthwhile in price. Ebbs and flows will occur, but supply, demand and classic collectible mindset will work in our favor.

And don't forget that a vast cache of 996's remain in the hands of Encinitas, CA drifters. These will inevitably drift into guardrails, or other drifters, and be totaled for salvage. Or at the very least incur an inestimably vast number of stage two over revs

Yeah, I was debating on whether to post it here or there. Kinda curious what will happen to it, not sure if the tubs are fixable or not be cool to see someone pick it up and document it.

Should I post all the counter-evidence to prices drifting up? Because the deals to be had this month are pretty depressing (for someone who bought earlier this year). Or really exciting if you're about to get in.

2001 996 Turbo 6-speed, 81,000 miles, for $48k (on Facebook).

Dude that is a 2001 (HORRID front bumperettes, no glove box, and shiny plastic interior) almost90K miles and BAD CarFax. What were you expecting a 2001 like that in Silver no less to sell for?? OEM wheels gone too NOT to even mention that laundry list of Encinitas, CA engine mods

The workaday colors in high miles with bad CarFax's will still do $50's all day long. $50K is the new $40K Turbo bottom. Good news is the Skittles Colors with perfect Carfax's are breaking $100K. That tide will eventually float sunk boats like this one up to around $80K or so. But that will take time. 2001 is by far the least desirable year. Silver one of the least desirable colors (just ahead of Black). And that bad Carfax is the least desirable flavor of them all. And did the Seller mention that dingy Graphite Grey leather?? Not yet...

Has a 2001 VIN though. As desirable as the Turbo is, that is the absolute least desirable year: bumperettes or no

The 2001 will always lag behind the other years due to the interior, the solid spoke wheels, the bumperettes, the lack of glove box, the weaker frame, etc. etc. etc.

2001 just i$ what it i$

And a bad CarFax is, well, a bad CarFax

Seller should take that $50K and run!! Two years ago that bad CarFax MY2001 was $35K

Ebbs and flows. Wouldn't be surprised to see the market soften as we approach 2022. No more stimulus checks. Millenials are loosing money in all the the "go-go" sectors. *****, IPOS, MEME stocks, Bitcoin are in bear markets from highs. All may have a tie-in. No crystal ball.

I don't discount the ebb and flow of markets in general

But at $50K: a bad CarFax Silver/Grey 2001 Turbo with 90K miles is all "flow" IMO

"Ebb" would have been $35K back in 2018

Come on
