yeah I actually went dry for two years when I quit smoking. I haven’t smoke but I love good food and liquor. Anyway two months ago I had a 6 lead ekg. Everything is great, other than I’m overweight. Anyway I’m almost at 20,000 steps for the day. I’m currently cleaning my 408s. These things can get real dirty, I love how my car stop but these pads produce way too much dust. They where new when I got the car, so no, I’m not changing the pads until they are needed.

Dirty

Clean. What a difference!!

^^ please don’t give this guy any smack for not having his crests pointed at the valvestems. I never did that to my car*, and I somehow still haven’t been banned or ostracized!

*I treat my car like ‘no good deed goes unpunished,’ and I’ve been good so far

Default That’s exactly what my buddy said

Thanks mike. My friends have suggested the ceramic coat. I’m guilty because until now everything I have done to the car has been performance oriented. I need to get it paint corrected and ceramic coated. But my buddy is going to sell me his soul headers, so do I spend the money in the headers or do I do paint correction. Anyway we are headed to my mechanic tomorrow. My buddy is taking the 95 993 coupe he just bought and we are doing a few things to my car. Anyway I’m taking beers 🍺, 3lb of Nolan Ryan boneless prime 34 Ribeyes, and a venison pork beef jalapeño cheese sausage to keep us well feed while we mess with the cars all day. it’s not the cars it’s the people.

I didn’t know you were buying Alfredo’s headers.
I can’t wait to hear the sound with the catless x-pipe.
I should have my Soul Sport cats later this week.

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/...6-carrera-4s-3

$55k USD... not bad for "the ugliest car stuttgart ever built" in arctic silver over black with hardly any options..

Prices are creeping up across the pond now too.

As we close out this thread's 1st year I thought I'd post this one that has just a few hours remaining:

https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2...-carrera-4s-4/

The price this car will sell for says all you need to know about the rise in 996 prices.

Call For Price usually bodes well.

What are the odds it's under $100,000? $150,000?

Maybe we will start to see quality for sale versus just turnover. True 996 lovers take care of their cars and don't sell on a whim. Speculators and whimsical owners do sell.

Phase One: Speculators and Whimsical
Phase Two: True 996 Owners

Have we entered phase two?

This is already happening (has been happening). For the most part, the online auctions are filled with a lot of CL junk. How many "special" 996's do we see now a days? Cool spec? Rare color combos? low mileage? Low ownership? etc. Again...not many. People give @bdronsick a hard time on BaT for "cheerleading" but give him some credit, what he's been preaching the last few years is coming to fruition. You want a silver/graphite 6sp 996 with 80K miles....tons of those out there have at 'em. Black Cab....millions out there. Base Spec C4S? I can send you five to choose from right now. You want a 99 Aero in Speed Yellow? Go find one. Glacier White 99? Go find one. Low ownership Carrera 2 with no nannies, go find one. The good ones are being locked away.

The true enjoyment is in driving them regardless of mileage, paint color, interior color, etc but obviously there are some that unfortunately will be put into a collection to be just looked at. Even with dramatically higher 996 prices vs pre-covid we are still talking sub $80-100k cars, not even back to what they sold for new.
