Everyone has different priorities and preferences, but while maintenance and mechanical condition are important to me, so is color. I am sure this is probably a very unpopular opinion, especially considering like half of all 996s are silver, but I think silver is the absolute worst color for any car, but especially a sports car. As such I would never buy a silver car even if it was in better mechanical condition at the same or cheaper price. I would hate looking at it and a high-quality color change paint job is going to run you just about as much as a new engine. Wraps are a cheaper alternative these days, but still aren't exactly cheap and don't last as long as a quality paint job. At the same time though, I am also not willing to pay what seems to be a $5k+ premium for Vesuvio, despite loving the color. I don't care about the rarity of any color just that I like it, but unfortunately the colors I like seem to be some of the rarer ones. Additionally, the way I look at it is if you are planning to keep and enjoy (drive) your 996, nickies are in your future at some point and that $20k engine rebuild is just something you've got to factor in as part of ownership. Now when that happens can certainly vary based on the specific car/maintenance/3.4 vs 3.6/luck/etc. but I'd much rather have to do that a little sooner and have a color that doesn't make me miserable to look at. For reference, I am in the market for a 996 now (I sure regret not buying one when I was in the market back in 2018, but hindsight is 20/20) and this is not just a cheapest way into a 911 for me. The 996 is my favorite water-cooled Porsche (another unpopular opinion although hopeful not as much on this board) and one of my favorite cars. As such, I intend to keep the car forever and drive the hell out it.

What do we think about this spec price wise? Only 25k miles everything done. Pristine condition.

Regardless of the color, you are approaching the 996 with the right expectations. 20+ year old engine means an eventual rebuild someday. I don't look at it as a problem, I look at it as an opportunity to get an extra 100+ HP and solve for every issue, while enjoying the engine in a world class chassis. Before and after the rebuild.

Thank God we don't have Ferraris. I can only imagine the service and rebuild costs. Ouch.

Are we sure this is the price? I'm just going by what my Buddy told me Sunday before it was listed.

“Call for price” means the price is rising daily; figure six-figures+ to get into any extremely desirable Classic 911 moving forward

Interesting, all cosmetic and luxury stuff.
Not a single performance option.

Smell quite the hater lol. Also please inform what “sport options” there was in a C4S. Hmm sport seats?? Or maybe a ultra rare X51.

I must defend Arctic Silver. Only other Porsche owners criticize other 911 colors. In the past 3 years I have received so many unsolicited comments about my 996 4s from strangers and not 1 person ever said anything critical of the car's color.

agreed he’s just still upset with me over some previous posts about .1s. Anyhow mines Polar Silver not Arctic, unless I’m missing something here?
