Reliability isn’t the issue, it’s endurance under racing conditions. The 996TT will “endure” LeMans, while the 991 Carrera will not; or at least Porsche legal warns it will not in the owner’s manual. Which is a fairly good indication 991 Carrera should “stick” to Rodeo Drive.

Personally i enjoy pretending to round the Mezger through Dunlop Curve whilst inching the elementary school parent pickup circle. This type of imagination is only possible with dry-sump lubrication.

I remember when one of my subordinates at work finally came up to me and asked how I can afford all my cars. Two Porsches, a Lotus, etc. They did the mental math (apparently it was as much as a house, they told me...) and told me how expensive they were, and how "on [my] salary, how can you afford it?" It was funny to watch their face when I told them how little they were in comparison to what they thought. I bought all my cars at peak depreciation and needing love. My colleague's brand new Audi A7 was more than all my cars COMBINED at that point, I just paid more in insurance. And possibly repairs. So, fortunately or not, no one knows your 911 is 20 years old or one model out of date, they just assume it's a 100k car.
And now, I have to get back to my prisoner exchange. Go pick up one car out of the shop and drop off another...

I own outdated luxury and sports cars which were fully depreciated at my purchase.
MSRP would be more than my house back in , whatever year they were new

Porsche is onto that too. As of 992 the oil
pan is fully concealed from prying eyes behind “underbody aerodynamic panels”.
