I’m not tracking any detailed metrics. This one was Green, my seat of the pants estimate is thats worth at least $5k. Number of owners/service records is trumped by color every time.

Here is an interesting plot of all 996 sales over the last 5 years on BaT, filtered to remove turbos, all GT iterations, targas & 40th anniversary models. The trend is very clear, picking up steam in the 4th quarter of 2020.

Glad prices are going up and they should, it's an awesome car. Just getting sick of the belly aching from the folks that haven't done their homework. Becomes a black eye on the 996 when problems occur from lack of service. We have had a black eye for too long.
Long live the 996.

You would have to live under a rock and have never heard of an invention called "the internet" to purchase a 996 in 2021 and not know its positives and numerous costly negatives. I no longer feel sorry for anyone who buys and gets burned though I don't in anyway condone a seller dumping a known problem on the next owner. The problems are known, the solutions are known, but people will still fail to demand a proper PPI or walk. BaT, in my opinion, gives buyer a false sense of security. Bidders see other bidders involved and might wrongly trust that someone else must have vetted this car and therefore its safe to join in the bidding. Maybe I'm totally off base, feel free to comment.

The rise in 996 prices have pulled Boxster prices up also. A 100k mile early 2.5 with a non functioning soft top is now $8k

Fairly nice C4S with natural leather sport seats and 62k miles for under 40k
looks like it has service records, claimed two owner and the Ims was done. Fister exhaust
Edit: it's been deleted off Facebook but here it is on the dealer site

Anyone think that the PCCM+ had any impact on the price trajectory? It was basically Porsche officially stamping the 996 as a classic.

The reason I think 996 prices have been going up is because people saw it as an entry way into a 911, forgetting the fact that these were all pretty much $75k-$89k cars new. The engineering that has gone into a 996 transferring from air to water cooled was a critical turning point for Porsche, IMO. The engineering negatives of the platform aside, it's still everything a 911 ever was and ever will be, people may just be starting to realize it more and more. We've seen the same thing with other Porsche models over the years. Prices were reasonable for 993/964/914, and as time went on those prices increased as well. I'm not saying prices will reach original sticker, but we have seen some come pretty damn close. Sure as **** couldn't say that 2-3 years ago.

Covid money is raising 911 prices?? That is both literally and figuratively a new one on me lol. Covid doesn’t explain how 964 went from $15K to $115K. Doesn’t even come close to explaining the CGT; unless we also believe a one time $4K check in the mail justifies a $3M budget increase?? Come on.

While there is not a direct correlation between Covid and prices, there are asset bubbles everywhere and these are generally a result of the high equity market valuations, real estate markets, bond markets and stimulus $$. People feel wealthy in general so why not bid up the prices of 996's??
