I'm not sure what's more shocking, the asking prices or the car guru estimate. CG clearly has FMV for lower mile 996 4s north of $60k. Silver one listed for $64,900 doesn't even have PSE.

Low mileage is EVERYTHING.

Mine had only 22k when i got it 2 years ago (only 8k in previous 11 years), now over 55k, BUT, the car is much better today in every way than it was 2 years ago. Better maintained, driven often, loved. Garage queens that are bought and then driven, not stored, need more maintenance in the first few years of ownership than a well maintained higher mileage alternative. Here's just a list off the top of my head of what I've had done to my former garage queen:

Window Regulators- both sides
New Horn
Front Differential
New Starter
New OEM Motor Mounts
Water Pump
UAOS
RMS
Clutch/Flywheel
IMSB Retrofit
Injectors
Coil Packs/Plugs
Summer Tires - 1 Set
Winter Tires - 1 Set
Winter Rims - 2 Rear
GT3 Shifter
7 oil changes with UOA
XPel PPF
Ceramic Coating
Rim Refurbishing/Powder Coated - 4
New double DIN head unit
Built in Radar Detector - F and R

The purchase price is just the initiation fee, Porsche ownership, if done correctly, is like joining a country club. Just my $.02

The silver one has the lower body panels all painted in silver, rather than the natural black of plastic. We've seen that before, but I don't think I like the look; it makes the car appear taller rather than sleeker, and obviously not original. Someone will certainly scrape the front panel on some driveway or ramp and then there will be some obvious scrape marks. On this one the paint doesn't match very well. What do you guys think of that paint scheme?

I dont care for the total silver look either. I’m actually replacing the front black lip on my 4s right now. It picked up lots of scraps from speed bumps etc. Surprisingly inexpensive

Exact same TechArt parts my car has, strange to see an exact clone of my exterior. Nice red interior. Seems reasonably priced.

^Agree^
There is no substitute for extensive service history on any used sports car.

I like that phrase, "There is no substitute".
It's kinda a catchie

Billup, this post needs to be covered up or blocked, so my wife never sees it.
She will be running out to buy a FOR SALE sign.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...1-carrera-137/

"Mercyhealth" on BaT wants 10 different video and audio clips on each 996 auction, then makes a bid in error and directs the seller to contact BaT to get it removed.

I'd sell on BaT, but given what I've learned over the past year, would likely never bid again. And I'd certainly not touch PCarMarket, given the stories shared here about their tactics and the validity of their bidding pool.

and the two most common and imo, boring colors of all. I get the low miles are impressive but yeah this just seems stupid.

this one I noticed as well, seems very poorly presented, in this market seems like a fantastic deal.

I don’t think it’s shocking at all. Why are 912s going for $50-$75k? Why the insane prices on old air cooled cars with big miles? FMV is whatever buyers are willing to pay. The 996 C4S has one of the best bodies of all 911s and certainly IMO the best rear end. Plus you don’t see that many around.

This is how it always goes: what was once seen as quirky and derided is now seen as “unique” and cool. People will eventually see the fried egg cars this way. If you don’t believe me then I only have one thing to say. The 914….
