IMO 6TT wing is a type of ducktail when retracted. Very elegant.

I think its just the nature of anything aftermarket, its never going to bring back what you put into it. The real advantage of buying a 911 with an FSI engine in it is that you don't have to wait a year or longer to get one. That being said you still have to have a specific buyer, someone that wants a 911 in whatever spec the car is and an FSI engine. I don't think most potential 911 buyers are looking for a car with a different engine in it.

The wisest potential buyers that have "done their research" look for these cars that have my engine already fitted. They probably won't find one, since they are seldom sold after someone spends the time and money to purchase one. A few have been put on the market, (usually in private circles) because prices are up across the board.

I have a spreadsheet of names of people that have contacted us looking for an FSI powered 996/997/Cayman/ Boxster. If any customers want to sell their car, and it meets the criteria the potential buyer is looking for, I do try to arrange a meeting between buyer & seller, as long as the seller is our original customer.
I don't charge for this, and refuse to accept money for it, since that puts me in the middle of a transaction, which for me is a disaster waiting to happen.

Last time I looked at the spreadsheet it had 60 names on it. Some have been there for two years waiting for the right generation/ color/ engine combination. At least 1/4 of them are looking for a 1999 white C2 coupe with black interior and an FSI Stage II Track Performer engine. That one is the unicorn.

Nope. I refuse to change anything here. Changing, or trying to do more WILL create a loss of the magic that makes the engine program what it is. Doing more work would mean less time spent per engine, or would mean adding employees to do the additional work. The former won't ever happen, since these engines are built by hand by their assigned builder from scratch, with only his two hands performing all the tasks to include machine work, balancing, preparation, blueprinting, assembly, and dyno testing. That same person even starts the car the first time, and he is 100% solely responsible, and accountable for the overall success of the project. He never speaks to a customer, and works in a very focused manner, only doing his tasks.

The latter won't happen because my newest engine builder has been here for 16 years, and it takes years of training for anyone to earn the title. I have one employee who is about to earn the title after 8 years of working alongside me everyday performing my prep work, and helping me assemble and dyno test engines. After these 8 years he is almost ready. Find that anywhere else- you won't.
My longest time builder has been here 23 years, and he retires in 2024, so its time to advance someone.

If we built as many as we could, had a dozen people touching every engine, or mass produced things, we'd be like everyone else in the industry that is too busy for business, and the "Flat 6 Difference" wouldn't exist.

Not only do we build these engines, we built the first 9a1 performance engine in the world. This engine was fitted to "Cayman X" in February of 2010, weighing in at a whopping 4.2L, and it was good enough to destroy two PDK gearboxes, and injure a third one. This car was featured on pages 66-71 of the December 2013 (maybe it was December 2012, I didn't even read the damn article, so I don't remember) issue of Panorama magazine.

If I had my pick of FSI unicorns it would be an amber-lenses Speed Yellow XAA with the BBS narrow hollow spokes and sunroof delete!

I always wanted a unicorn. Still trying to convince the accountant.

Recently a 3.8 I believe track performer two was sold by the original owner in Colorado. Car had cage and a bunch of GT3 mods. I dont know the final price number but he was asking $33K. As I told my mechanic and Tex Squirrel that was basically the cost of the engine. I got to talk to the owner because the add was In the PCA Market classifieds. Anyway I believe I was second or third in line. The Sale was closed Friday and yes I kept checking on it. I wish I would have seen it first. Yes I bought apple stock in 2009. I almost can buy a singer if I sell all my apple stock but I would never do that. By the way in addition to Factorys 408s with 993 part numbers My car has a Ducktail. Next project, trying to get an FVD X Pipe. Also refurbish that Driver side rear bent wheel. Happy Friday everyone.

That owner bought the engine when they were a lot less money. Prices have only gone up, and will continue to- never down.
Just a few years ago a Stage I Track Performer would have been 21-22K, today with the Exclusive service including installation that number is 30K. Even at 30K its actually a better deal, since additional time in service has forced us to replace even more components.

I don't like to see cars that have my engines sell, that means someone new will get it, probably won't get my directives, and will goof it up. They will hang a bunch of non essential aftermarket BS on the engine, then they'll reach out for us to support it when it doesn't work. My support is only for the original purchaser, and support isn't even available for purchase.

I was interested in it because all the other stuff the car has and yes the best part was your engine. My intention was to sell some of the parts like cage and make it look stock. The guy being a PCA member and your engine spoke volumes. Anyway, the best one I have seen was the black car with the Red FSI letters in the concourse show in Kemah last March. You stated that was your personal car and one of a kind. Honestly Jake I think that people in the 996 and 997 car community know who you are and definitely have watched a bunch of your videos. When you are talking about bolt ons what are you referring to. There is better exhausts than factory, the x pipes have been proven to flow/perform better than factory. I’m in the fence about headers. Skips UAOS is definitely a lot better than factory. Yes I know saw about motor mounts. As an engineer with a master I always think about the what if’s, “this is exactly what you have done to the power plant”. It so have other companies to other components.
