Finished brake job ... discs and pads all around. Looking forward to track season.
of course, noticed a lovely philips head screw in one of the rear tires. No more track for these tires. Ugh.
also last week managed to repair wiper fluid leak ... cracked headlamp pump. Replaced both pumps while i was in there. Cleaned wheel well liner too. Previous owner tried duct tape. Didnt work too well. Slotted on front From the glen iirc.
After experiencing a little strangeness in my electricals and then searching up some excellent diagnostic info on this forum, I replaced my voltage regulator. surprised, at this apparent level of wear, that it functioned at all
I also did this a few weeks ago - was getting intermittent CEL's that would show up then go away after 25 miles or so. It turned out that the gasket on the cap had cracks in it... Haven't gotten a CEL since I replaced it...
Been through several of these caps because of cracked rubber gaskets. Thankfully they're not that expensive. I just wish they could design a better tether that wouldn't break in such a short amount of time.
I purchased our 996.2 cab last summer and didn’t pay attention to the installed wheel locks. Fast forward 6 months, a flat tire and the discovery of no wheel lock key. I used the 11/16” 12 point socket hack to get the wheel off. I ordered a titanium set of lugs without locks off eBay and installed the ones I could. I took the car down to discount tire and they removed the remaining wheel locks. The car is garage parked and driven to places I consider safe so not too concerned about wheel theft.
I gave up on wheel locks years ago. I guess if you own a new Corvette it still might be a wise investment. See picture on the recent news.
Replaced engine mounts on my 99 c2. Went with Rein oem. Should have been a one hour job max. Turned into a multiple day project when one of the nuts seized on the old mount. The bolt unthreaded from the mount with seized nut attached. Had to take the bolt and nut to Precision Tune. They were able to remove the nut. Got mounts installed. When I went to reassemble and install the two bolts for the secondary air pump i discovered the bolts would not fasten - they just fell into the holes. Turns out there are speed nuts attached to rubber grommets. The grommets disintegrated after 20 years and the speed nuts were just dangling from the grommets. So I have to order two speed nuts with the rubber grommets and all will be right.
friendly tip - Make sure your mounts come with nuts. Or order them with the mounts if unsure.
shifting does seem a little smoother and perhaps a little smoother idle. Mounts were replaced just because they were 20 years old.
Every time I think I am about ready to do this I see a thread like this one...

Good to know about the speed nuts.
It’s a painless job, really. Have an impact wrench ready to unfasten the nuts on the mounts. If the nuts are seized the bolts will unthread from the mounts. Have new mounts nuts ready just in case. And have a couple speed nuts waiting if those rubber grommets failed. One hour job after the car is jacked. Go for it!
Pre-soaking is key... PB blaster or similar..
I don't spray it, I use a old paint cap and spray some in there, then use a cheesy cheap brush to put it just on the threads and the nut.
Dropped c4s off at indy for new OEM motor mounts, oil change (UOA #2 via SPEEDiagnostix to follow), and passenger window regulator. Also ordered new summer tires, Michelin PS2, wore out Sumos that came with car 12k miles ago.
Over the weekend I turned from 159999 to 160000... (on the chassis that is - about 4300 on the new FSI 3.8... have I said how much I like it? - Oh yeah, I guess I have )
I just happened to catch it at 159999... I was doing 74mph (actually that would be 71...) so I didn't have long to grab my phone and snap a photo... The traffic was light, so it wasn't too dangerous
I also got the 4th coat of Leatherworld "dye" on the insert portion of my 997 Sport Seat (passenger side first) - it's coming out really nice. I think 1 or maybe two coats will finish it off. I'll just put 1 photo here, as I had started a thread when I got the seats - I'll put the rest there (along with the description of what I did, and why...)
