i had a hard wired rear mounted back up camera installed for $250, all-in. camera is mounted on top rim of rear license plate holder and is virtually invisible. upon putting the car in reverse the camera displays on my alpine center console touch screen. had the work done when touch screen and radar detectors were installed. great for backing out of parking spots.
Getting ready to sell my 04 C4S / Cab / Tip / 80K mile / IMS Solution'd car so I dropped it off at local specialist to have him give it a once over. Not a PPI but a assessment of obvious things that should be addressed.
He actually thought I was nuts when I asked him if it made sense for me to pay for a full PPI .. and have it in-hand when a prospect asked for it. I'd rather be upfront and honest about anything I sell.
Is it the picture or is the mirror as big as it looks? I like the idea!
Yes
I bought on Amazon and installed the VanTop H610 10" 2.5K Mirror Dash Cam for Cars with Full Touch Screen, Waterproof Backup Camera Rear View Mirror Camera, Enhanced Night Vision with Sony Starvis Sensor, Parking Assistance. Sold by: VanTop Direct $81.59
The Micro USB card is not included: I bought on Amazon the Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Full-Size Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM). $19.49
The rear cam is wired. I n order to hide the cable (it comes with an 8' one), I needed an extension cord: YiePhiot Extension Cord Dash Cam Backup Camera Rear View Mirror Camera Recorder Cable (4-pin 6.5ft/2m) $5.99 (Amazon)
Installation is simple but time-consuming if you want to hide the wires as I did (~ 3 hours)
Took my 2000 C4 Cab into the dealer 2day to get a new key coded (total cost for key blank, remote head and coding $500). Other options just didn't weren't acceptable. So bit the bullet and paid full freight.
Also had them diagnose a CLS (central locking system) problem. It locks/unlocks but doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Problem identified as the driver's door latch (not being recognized by the CLS). Estimated cost of repair $906. Will be credited $210 for the cost of diagnosis paid today' $696 due later.
Was told the need to diagnose the roof as well. Claimed it's "noisy" and hydraulics may be low or going out. Don't think it's noisy but it is slow. Will do the diagnosis when I bring the car in for the door latch/CLS repair. Will not pay them to replace/repair the hydraulics; will get them rebuilt in FL and removed/reinstalled by my indie shop if need be.
There also a loose roll bar cover; one side is loose due to a small broken bracket. They want $750 for a new cover. NOT going to buy that; it's secure enough. Just wondered if they could fix it w/o replacement; they can't. May search for the part in a salvage yard or from a discount Porsche parts dealer but it really doesn't need 2b replaced 4 that price.
Update:
Just discovered that there are wheel locks on my car. Was checking the torque of the bolts. Bought the car on 8/31/2019 and had no reason to check the torque b4. Sent a txt & email to the prior owner to see if he still has the key. Also called my indie who said that my Porsche dealer should have a master key set. Porsche confirmed it and said they could order me a new key when they figure out which one it is. Will get that done during the next visit too.

Ouch!
Have you looked under the seats for the Lug key, or in the frunk/spare tire cover?
I'd ditch the locking lugs all together!
After lots of research, I had a roll bar installed in my C4S. It’s a tight fit but the guys at HBI Auto did an amazing job with the install. The bar is a RSS bar and had it custom painted.

I recently installed the same bar in my 996.
Wow it was a chore to install.
I don’t plan on ever removing it, that’s for sure.
I like the yellow, mine is boring black.
Wish I’d removed the rear seatbelt before installing the rollbar.
Replaced my gas cap, the broken lanyard had bugged me for years. When you order the replacement cap from Porsche the kit doesn't include the little plastic push pin needed to connect the lanyard to the car so I had to have the dealer send one to me. Now nicer than dealing with a loose cap.
