I recently installed the same bar in my 996.
Wow it was a chore to install.
I don’t plan on ever removing it, that’s for sure.
I like the yellow, mine is boring black.
Wish I’d removed the rear seatbelt before installing the rollbar.
Yeah, I called Mike at RSS and he said one tip is to use a ratchet strap on the two front legs to take off the preload. Also, to use a thin piece of cardboard btw the bar and headliner for protection.

For you guys that have done this, I’m curious as to your driving impressions post install? I’d assume it feels like a more rigid chassis overall and reduces body roll a bit? Big difference? Moderate difference? Looks the business that’s for sure.

I haven’t taken my car to the track since the install and expect to feel moderately less body flex. The RSS bar is a bolt in so it won’t have as much stiffening as a weld in option. On the street, I don’t feel any difference really but hard to tell as the coupes are already inherently pretty stiff.
Took my 2000 C4 Cab into the dealer 2day to get a new key coded (total cost for key blank, remote head and coding $500). Other options just didn't weren't acceptable. So bit the bullet and paid full freight.
Also had them diagnose a CLS (central locking system) problem. It locks/unlocks but doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Problem identified as the driver's door latch (not being recognized by the CLS). Estimated cost of repair $906. Will be credited $210 for the cost of diagnosis paid today' $696 due later.
Was told the need to diagnose the roof as well. Claimed it's "noisy" and hydraulics may be low or going out. Don't think it's noisy but it is slow. Will do the diagnosis when I bring the car in for the door latch/CLS repair. Will not pay them to replace/repair the hydraulics; will get them rebuilt in FL and removed/reinstalled by my indie shop if need be.
There also a loose roll bar cover; no side is loose due to a small broken bracket. They want $750 for a new cover. NOT going to buy that; it's secure enough. Just wondered if they could fix it w/o replacement; they can't. May search for the part in a salvage yard or from a discount Porsche parts dealer but it really doesn't need 2b replaced 4 that price.
Update:
Just discovered that there are wheel locks on my car. Was checking the torque of the bolts. Bought the car on 8/31/2019 and had no reason to check the torque b4. Sent a txt & email to the prior owner to see if he still has the key. Also called my indie who said that my Porsche dealer should have a master key set. Porsche confirmed it and said they could order me a new key when they figure out which one it is. Will get that done during the next visit too.
If you want to ditch the wheel locks altogether I have some extra bolts you can have. I ordered a set off Ebay, and used them to replace my wheel locks (key also missing), and replace some bolts that were very rusty.
Spent 4 great days at the Rolex 24 PCA Infield Paddock. Weather was beautiful and the racing awesome. I am at 145,357 miles and the car still looks great and runs great.
Actually, last night, I finished install of a double din Sony (CVX1000 if I remember correctly).
I installed wiring for a reversing camera and will complete that install once received. My 63 year old body is pretty sore from all the contortionist moves required. My shins especially are sore from fishing the rear camera wiring. I learned a lot about how the interior of these cars are trimmed out.
Oh, yeah, also removed the cigarette lighter and replaced it with a double USB charger outlet. The car is no longer a completely unmodified, bone stock car.
