also, it seems many dealers are buying 992.1 gt3s back from folks who were lucky enough to purchase them at msrp and then marking them up by $1xx,xxx. obviously there are no restrictions on who these 'used' (typically less than 500 miles) cars are sold to.
fyi, for those in california, there is an unclaimed incoming gt3 available for $100k over msrp at porsche hawthorne. these guys have called a few times to gauge my interest in the car - so it looks like they might be willing to deal. i offered them $15k over msrp which was laughed away of course.

not every dealer i have spoken with has said the same thing. most are willing to sell their incoming cars to me as long as i am willing to pay $1xx,xxx over msrp.

Or buy a Huracan. Or a 600lt or a multitude of other cars in that price range.

Smart man. Been saying this for a long time. Go test drive a used 720 coupe. Will blow the doors off a GT3. I owned a 720 (sold to make room for 765 spider) and a GT3 so I’m giving my experience as an actual owner of both.

In my opinion the issue with the GT3 is that it is essentially still just a 911 992-- same nav screen, same interior-- same exterior except for some extra scoops here and there and an extra 100 hp or so. And a different front end -- as if the original front end does not do a good job of cornering the thousands of other 911's out on the street. But you do get a giant wing -- where the Aero kit wing option looks better and not so silly - hanging there upside down.
How many GT3 owners are ever taking the car on a track? 10%? 5%? - at $300,000 cost whipping the car around a track is for the true rich guy who money does not matter too.
The car priced at $205,000 or so makes sense and fits into the line up of the different cars - but at $300,000 it is just silly. Buy a GTS which I can get at MSRP and is a more civilized car which you can actually get your wife to take a weekend trip in that has just below 500 hp and I have not checked but I bet Porsche charges a lot more to work on the GT3 motor just because they can.
I took a tour of the factory in Stuttgart in June and there were a lot of GT3's rolling own the assembly line -- didn't seem that rare a car to me and now around 300 on the used car sites for sale.
Watch the video on Youtube of a GT3 compared to a base carrera on a track and from stopped -- the base Carrera is the best 911 available and the most fun to drive.

99 listings for 992 GT3s just in Cargurus. That’s minus some that are exclusively on Porsche dealer websites and places like DuPont Registry.
Any one remember if this was the case with 991s at same time of their lifecycle?

when I got to the dealer they took me to their storage and they had about 8 more gt cars (gt3, gt3rs, GT2rs) that weren’t even listed online. They were hoarding them to drive up the prices.

there were 170 991.2’s GT3’s in March of 2019. I remember vividly cuz that’s when I bought mine. I used that number when negotiating for the car and knew of everyone on the East coast.
