folks - just a point of reference. i have been calling dealerships across the country looking for a 992.1 gt3 allocation. it seems every dealer i have called has a 'used' (i.e., a car with just 100-500 miles) 992.1 gt3 on their lot, or on the way to their lot that they want to sell for $100k over msrp. i have received multiple phone calls, texts, emails, etc. asking me to buy one of these cars. perhaps the buyers for these cars are harder to find than the dealers anticipated.

‘yup the list is well over 100 cars for sell, and many of these dealers paid over …..someone will be holding the bag soon. Happens all the time, and many think it’s a special Porsche. There will always be another car, and the new shiny toy is no longer fun or the “new” thing. Porsche will always be my number one car, but a GT3 300k I’d pass on that 100%of the time ….. lots of good stuff out there.

yes, see https://www.prestigeimports.net/inve...c2a90ns269633/ as an example.
i am new to the gt3 scene - are tourings more 'desirable' than winged cars? fwiw, i am perfectly fine with either.

Burning Brakes
My dealers tell me that 2023 is the last year for the GT3 - another clever tactic by Porsche —- most dealers don’t have any uncommitted allocations remaining. Look at the prices for a 991 GT3 - still way up above their msrp price.
in my opinion the GTS with a lot of fun options and an opening roof or the cabriolet is just shy 25 or so hp than the GT3 and it rides better on the freeway, is not so insanely loud inside so your wife might actually go for more than one road trip and you can get them for msrp.
oh yeah - how about ventilated and heated seats, and Burmeister stereo and on and on.
if your really a track nut and you can really get 99% of the ability of a gT3 then I understand. But how many Guys are taking their $300,000 GT3 - in perfect condition- and risking damage to the car on a track? Would you not drive a much less valuable car a lot more enthusiastically than that $300,000 vehicle?
I understand the bragging rights afforded a GT3 992 owner at PCA gatherings but in actual practice a GTS has more sound deadening in the car and will corner harder than 99% of us would ever take any 992 Porsche on a mountain road. And little seats in back on the GTS for the grandkids……
If you have never ridden him a GT3 rent one at PECLA or Atlanta for a driving experience. Or maybe your dealer will have one you can drive. There is a reason a lot of these GT3’s are for sale with just a few thousand miles.
watch this review on YouTube by a well respected car collector in England. Buy a GTS 992 and use the saved $150,000 to buy a GT4 or a matching GTS Boxster or an Emira or how about a Z06 Corvette which has 675 hp and is going to beat a GT3 around any track or 0-60 for a mere $130,000..

folks - herb chambers porsche claims they have an unclaimed gt3 allocation as of this morning. they will sell only to locals, so unfortunately it doesn't help me (i am in california). if someone is local to the new england area, feel free to call them at (617) 278-9300. i spoke to 'Ali', but i am sure anybody in porsche sales could help.
some other details:
1) if they were to sell it to me, it would be msrp + $100k
2) for locals, pricing is likely better and depends on 'many factors'
3) car can be delivered in jan'23 or feb'23
3) not sure i believe any of this but the salesperson also told me: "porsche doesn't want us selling our cars to out of state folks. they will take our allocations if that's the case. the car must be registered in massachusetts by the owner for 1 year post purchase".
