GM did the same with the C8 Vette.
It's basically a way for Ford (or GM) to publicly put on a good face with their customers -- i.e., "hey, look, everyone, we are not at fault for all these ridiculous markups, it's those damn dealers ... blah blah blah" -- when in reality, the marques themselves could care less because their customers are the dealers and dealer principals, not the ultimate consumers (i.e., you and me).
And what's Ford (or GM) really going to do? Not sell to dealers? When all (or 99%) of them are marking up the most desired cars and trucks? What would that accomplish? Nothing except essentially biting themselves in the **** and cut into their own corporate profits.
And, seriously, who does one think leaked this letter to the press? The dealers? Uh, probably not. Ford? Wouldn't be the first time.
TL;DR marketing CYA, won't make a difference

agree for sure it’s spin, the only success was with the Ford GT had to keep for 2 years or sale back to the dealer.

Do you guys think theres some shill bidding going on at these auction places? Sometimes for a car worth 300k or so with reserve at 280k I assume. I see a bid to 270k or so with so many days left. No bidder with common sense would do that.

Happens all the time. Can’t confirm but sometimes I think the same online auction has shillings in place.

Here's a quick market update. A new 2022 China Blue G63 $205k MSRP sat in the Mercedes Marin showroom this last week. I stopped in yesterday and was told all new G63's come with $50k ADM's but offered $40k. It sold this morning but a black G63 is available with $35k ADM.

Definitely very suspicious. For example, say someone wants to sell 911R at 500k and set reserve at 480k for so. No one in their right mind will bid 470k like 7 days before auction ends. I dont like buying cars from auction because you cant (or very hard) to inspect the car.

Lot's of G63 talk. Rumor has it - these guys paid through the roof for tons of G63 inventory at the top of the market. Would like to hear the real story from an insider.
