HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
Rennlist Member
After years of kicking myself for selling a great car to buy another great car, the rule in my book has changed. Find a place to garage the car you were thinking of selling and use the cheap financing options to cover the interest carry.

I welcome the collective 991 guru's thoughts on this car. Carfax looks good and appears the car has been well cared for. Higher than ideal mileage and my guess is the base configuration with MT for a Targa is resulting in it being the least-expensive Targa in the country, and it's been sitting for about three months now. Thinking of trading my 2015 Boxster GTS in on it.

The only thing I think I'd miss from my 981 GTS is the PSE. Definitely speced more to the luxury GT cruiser than performance end of the spectrum, which makes the MT an odd combination IMO. It was originally listed for $79k, then after a month they lowered it to $77k, and about a week ago they lowered it to $72k.

It's out of warranty so there is some risk, and if the clutch hasn't been done I'll bet it will need it soon at 57k miles. It needs to be discounted for at least 30k miles higher than average at .50 cents a mile. So that's at least $15k. But given that Targas are so rare that may be a solid deal. What would it sell for with 20k miles?
so my rule has been to avoid high(er) end cars that have paint work
I have bent that rule for some cars that have had a nose/bumper properly sprayed due to rock chips...
I am in NC and just recently sold a MB GT-S and now want a 991 turbo S, preferably a convertible (had a R8 v-10 with supercharger prior)
a dealer 3 hours away from me (Godspeed) has a 2015 for sale with proper spec (msrp $197) BUT report shows car hit a concrete barrier
although their was no structural damage the entire drivers side was painted
RUN away or consider if work was done right and history is priced in?
If it were a long term keeper I would be less concerned but I don't tend to keep toys very long and don't want to be stuck with it
I am smarter when giving advise then taking my own so input is appreciated
thanks

1. You are breaking your own rule.
2. Unless you see pictures of the damage, you'll never know. That also means you won't be able to prove it to the buyer when you sell it. Concrete barrier, but it only needed touching up, really?
I think this is where I drop the microphone.
Run forrest
Run. Concrete barrier vs AL. Airbags, no structural damage ???
Thanks
Of course you are both right
thanks
makes you wonder though, not too many years ago “paint work” and meter readings weren’t a huge deal but now....guess most cars with any issues get wholesaled out but someone ends up buying them

I would never buy a car that has put a lot miles on it in and around NYC Metro area. Roads are terrible, too many cars and too many people around them at all times. NYC Metro cars with higher miles are typically worn in comparison to other areas.

What do you guys think of this:
https://vinanalytics.com/car/WP0AA2A95JS106427/
Dealer wants $99500
~8000 miles
Missing premium package/entry and drive, and I'd really rather *not* have RAS
Thinking about seeing if they would get closer to $90,000
