HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991

The market for 997.2's has been like this for what like... 7? 8? years now..... I don't see either 997.2 or 991.1's changing much, especially S/GTS's (and even more so MT's).
They just dont make NA 911's anymore outside of 150k GT3's and theres no getting around that and i think it drives prices up. Also, 991's are solid cars with very little issues.
Regarding M2/3... ive had both. Two M3's (F80, One comp, one not, MT and DCT) and a F87 M2 Comp.
In my opinion, the M3 is a far better buy. You can get them for less than a M2 Comp and they weigh the exact same.. the only benefit to the M2 is the wheelbase.
But neither offer an experience close to my 991.1 S. In a straight line they are just as fast, but far less composed, precise and dont even get me started on the sound....

I need to respectfully disagree on 997.2/991.1 valuations. While the 997.2 depreciation curve may have flattened out and begun rising, what we saw in the last year does not follow the general trend line. I purchased my 50K mile 981CS in April 2018. At the same time, I was cross shopping a 997.2 C4 with the same mileage. Both MT’s, and both were priced at a hair north of $40K. A similar 997.2 Base (C2 or C4) would be closer to $50K today. That’s 25% appreciation in about 1.5 years!
I think once the pandemic is sufficiently behind us, and general used car demand wains vs. the all time highs we’re seeing today, prices will come down to the tune of 10% or more vs. what we’re seeing today on the 997.2/991’s. The stop sale on the 991.1’s with Sport Chrono is further complicating things.

Thank you for your opinions on the F80/87. The auto journalist community really sing high praises of the M2 vs. the M3, but you are right, the M3 is a lot more car for the money at todays prices. I’ve driven an F87 and enjoyed it, but need to get some seat time in a F80. I’ll be going into either knowing they won’t be anywhere on the same level of precision and sound as a modern NA P-car, but it will be an experience to enjoy while I wait for the PCar market to cool a bit...

Re: 991/997. You could be right, but i really do think NA MT 3.8's will hold strong for a while. could be wishful thinking on my part though as i plan on keeping mine until the very second i can afford a GT3 MT.

I’m in the same boat. They’re just flat out overpriced right now. On the plus side, I sold my 981 CS two months ago for what I paid for it and was able to put 15k miles on it. The plan was to move into a 911, but I may need to look into something else while prices stabilize. 6MT is necessary. I was thinking trying a M2 or M3 — any other suggestions?
If you are budget conscious, its very hard to rationalize the 911 at $60K.. for that money you can get an in warranty (not that you'll need it) Camaro ZL1 that supersedes the 911 in nearly every way. If you haven't driven one, before you speak out, remove all preconceived hoity-toity biases and go drive one. Its an amazing automobile by any measure. It has all the creature comforts of a M3 with tons more power than a 911, a real man's soundtrack, an great alcantara interior and stereo, and real road handling prowess, all for less money. The ZL1 is a unicorn of a car and should be on every car enthusiast's cross-shopper's short list. I would definitely not straight trade in my ZL1 on a 911 - and if I add a 911 to the stable, which is the plan, the zl1 still gets the garage spot.

After reading all the comments on the M2 and M3 i decided to take a look at them again. There is just no way I would get either of them instead of a 991.1 C2 MT. I rather dream about the P-car, and have no sports car in my garage. Although, it's very tempting, one can get a 2020 BMW M2C MT for 55kUSD with practically zero mileage.

The current prices are just nuts. I call it the covid-19 effect. As mentioned earlier, total seller's market right now. It'll come back down to earth eventually. I'm feeling very fortunate / lucky to have bought my 991.1S two years ago now.

I think the analysis he has done is ok, but he neglected some important things like accident history on carfax and the options (or MSRP) on the car. I think these influence the price quite a lot.

Certainly valid point, but I appreciate the data he has pulled together and the resulting analysis. Aggregated data like this isn't readily available (that i know of), so I found it quite interesting.

May be the lighting, but that car looks pretty light in colour for Agate Grey? 🤔
