I have seen mention in this thread that the "Sport" button also gets you throttle Blip. In my 2014 Carrera S with SC and an MT this is not true. Throttle Blip on downshifts is only active when Sport+ button is active and it is not active with just the sport button pushed and active. Again I have SC and an MT. Maybe the Blip is different with PDK cars..

S+ auto is magic on the track. S+ manual for the street. S+ also gives you race start. Most people don’t need or use any of it.

Default Stop Sale Order Explained in Detail

This is the best explanation to date I have read of the STOP SALE order: https://www.autoblog.com/2021/02/01/...-sport-chrono/

If the only problem is Sport Plus, maybe this is welcome news. I find Sport+ in my 2013 991.1 fairly useless as it tends to hold every gear to practically redline. I have heard this behavior was changed in the 991.2 and later models. If modifying the software makes Sport+ More usable on the street by taming it’s hangup on redline, that may be fine by me as long as the car’s overall performance isn't tarnished.

What you’re describing is precisely what Sport mode is for. I prefer Sport+ to hold the gear till the redline because that’s what I expect PDK to do when I’m using this mode at the track (or unless I’m using the paddles).

What you say makes perfect sense. If I tracked my car, I'd probably love Sport+. As it is, I do use it around town and on the highway but with paddles to force it up the gears. Still, I have heard 991.2 and later cars have changed how Sport+ works. As I said, I don't know if that's true. But if it is, and Sport+ was modified to be like the later cars, I'd welcome that. Of course, who knows what that would do for your track events. I guess we'll find out eventually what the software "fix" will do.

Sport Plus is great for it's intended purpose, racing. Putting around on the street in Auto mode, no way. Putting around in Manual in Sport Plus its fine for me too.

I recently traded my 991.1 for a 991.2 and the difference in Sport Plus as you described is exactly right. The software for Sport Plus in a 991.2 is changed, it works like I used to drive my manual 996 and 997. Around town drive it between 4-3,000 RPM. In sport plus (as will all PDK modes) you change the shift point to a higher RMP with your foot. It is a much better driving experience in 991.2 for Sport Plus. Never drove the 991.1 in Sport Plus because it was always a red line shift, could never figure it out. Also the 991.2 Sport Plus shift is much firmer, you feel it in your seat and hear it too, its awesome!

I just don’t get it. Release the software, move on and get these cars back out. There aren’t enough 911s around.it’s ridiculous.

Am sure it has to due with the negotiations regarding the amount of fines, settlements, etc.

Plus, Porsche has many models (not just 911s) and model years to fix. Each requires its own revised software, internal testing to minimize the performance hit (so as to minimize customer complaints and class action suits = costs and payouts), recertification by US authorities, and probably also dealing with other markets. I am not surprised this is taking a while.

An SA at a Porsche dealer today told me that they were told it will likely be November before the stop sale was lifted.
