There had to be collusion behind this whole deal from square one.
Otherwise, the parties with the strongest incentive to test for, uncover, and scream bloody murder about VW's emission violations would have been their own competitors, not some obscure academic researchers at a US university.
Prices when/if the market gets flooded with released cars.
Hey, all, I'm deep in the throes of looking for my first Porsche, a 991.1, ideally a 4S with PDK and SC. If I find one I love now, in the midst of this current supply/demand-related price spike, should I buy it or hope that when/if this stop sale ends there are a lot more options available from dealers? Do we think the will be a short term flood of cars at cheaper prices?
I don't think this will affect long-term values, but if I buy an inflated car this quarter and next quarter there's a ton of better/cheaper options, I'm going to feel some serious buyer's remorse.

After buying my 911S in May 2020 all I read here was how values would depreciate to some extent but then the markets changed and I sold it a year later for $10k more. It’s up to you if you want it or not and whether it’s worth the risk of losing a few bucks if the market goes south. If you like it, buy it before someone else does.

If you want the car, and it fits your budget, why deny yourself any duration of the ownership experience based on price?
Pulled the trigger on a 2013 C4S and it ships on Friday!
Considering how much people are asking for similar cars, I think I did okay price-wise. Assuming it shows up looking as good as advertised (and confirmed by my friend) then I think I'll be quite happy indeed.

Congrats! For all the months i spent looking for the perfect build at the perfect price, I finally realized that any one of these cars will put a huge smile on my face and just went ahead and bought one. Wish i did it sooner.

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to. I have the painful tendency of overthinking, overanalyzing and dithering on even the most mundane decisions; I'm actually kind of proud I just threw a little caution to the wind and simply got the best car I could afford.
I still put together a scoresheet so I could objectively compare condition, options and price. I got my 2nd highest score for the 2nd lowest price among my small selection of possibilities. I'll call that a win.
Might as well share a photo from the seller. Car gets picked up today!

I employed the same logic....got a 2013 991.1 Carrera S...No sunroofdidn't want one. No Sport Chrono, the Stop Sale order took cars of this, Sport Exhaust, Sport Seats and clear tail lights...that's it for option...fortunately for some of us, Carrera S comes with some tasty options included.

Every Porsche buying guide i've ever read (even since my first 911 25 years ago) always ends with the same advice - get the nicest, newest, best one you can afford.
